At Home, Getting Ready (News Intermission)

Monica was finishing putting on her make-up, while the TV droned on in the background.

"...And today we have a special interview from Thomas Hayfield, designated spokesperson from ADE, regarding some leaked details on their new incentive program that has been in place the past couple weeks to boost workplace morale, which has historically been the reason given for poor employee retention and lower quality control. Thomas, some people are concerned that this plan exhibits some legally questionable, and misogynistic qualities. Would you care to explain it to us and our viewers here on Channel 5?"

"Absolutely, Ms. Dane. As for all the details, the plan itself was not run by us, the board, but it was approved by our HR department head, Ms. Lyla Winslow. We, here at ADE put full trust in the abilities and judgement of all our appointed heads."

"And can you explain why allowing women in your company to subjugate themselves to the men that work there is in any way to improve your share valuation, and how does that really affect the company's financials?"

"I'd hardly say the women are 'subjugated' here, Ms. Dane. We've always allowed our female staff to pursue their own professional interests. I'd argue we've actually empowered them. As you all know, our very own CEO, Kylie Allison is a woman."

"What did the CEO say about the plan?"

"Unfortunately, the plan was launched shortly prior to her departure to Geneva, so as for her opinion, I do not have any statement. She did trust us, and all of the department heads at ADE, and I do believe we are doing our best. As I'm sure our shareholders do as well."

"Well, thank you for your time, Mr. Hayfield, we do have to move on to our other segment here on Channel 5: The Weather. Back to you, Mark."

"Thank you, Thomas, for the interesting and informative piece. And now for our local weather..."

"Ugh." Monica turned off the television. She was ready for her date with Hubert.
