The Night
What will Lauren do?
Ask for help
"Uh....I don't suppose you'd mine showing me the way to my grandmas house." Lauren said, trying to look innocent. The stranger gave her a questioning look. "What are you lost?" Lauren sighed. "Yes. I've never been this way. I was following the path but now I'm god knows how far from it. Not exactly eager to follow the river back to that bridge troll either. Will you please help me?" She said batting her eyelashes. The stranger smiled. "Sure. Why not. But....." He then looked up at the sky. "It's getting dark though. It's not safe for someone like you to be out here at night. I'll take you back to my place. Then we'll head to your grandma's in the morning." Lauren sighed in relief. She was afraid he was going to have to trade something. "I guess that's fine she said." "Alright then, get dressed." Lauren stood up and scurried over to where her cloths were. She was about to start dressing when she realized the stranger was still looking at her. She glared at him. "Do you mind?" He just chuckled. "Not really. I've seen plenty already." Lauren looked away to hid her blush. "Pervert."
Once she was dressed, the two started walking through the woods. The two intially walked in silence with the stranger walking in front of Lauren. She couldn't help but eye him as they walked. He really was a sight to behold. Suddenly, he stopped and she walked right into him. As she bounced off him, she stumbled back and stepped on her cloak again. She was about to fall over but a hand caught her hand and pulled her up off the ground. She looked up and saw that the man had caught her and gently placed her back on her feet. She must have weighed nothing to him. "I'm sorry." She said flustered. "Don't you think that cape is a little long babe?" "It's not my fault. It came with the costume." "Costume?" "Uh.....we should get moving." Lauren said as she started walking. "Hey babe, we are heading this way." He said pointing another way. "Uh....yeah.....you lead."
They started walking again. Lauren again falling in stride behind the stranger. The two fell in a silence which bored Lauren. "So.....do you have name?" "Gray." "Do you live out here Gray?" "Yup." "Why is that?" "I just enjoy the peace." "Hmm." Lauren said as she started walking beside him studying his face. "Do you ever get lonely." He shifted his gaze to her. Raising an eyebrow. Lauren looked away in embaressment. "It's just.....the only people I've meant around here are a thieving wolf man and a man eating bridge troll. Probably aren't many people someone like you would want to be around." He returned his gaze to the way ahead. "No. It doesn't get lonely. I hope it stays that way though." She looked at him questioningly. "What do you mean by that?" "We are here."
Lauren looked ahead and found they where at the entrance of a cave. Gray started into the cave before looking back and realizing that she hadn't moved an inch. "You coming?" Lauren was suddenly starting to have second thoughts about all this. She was expecting to be brought to a house, not a cave and though Gray had been friendlier than anyone else she had encountered so far, she still wasn't sure she could trust him. It wouldn't be too late to run.
