Ask about the package

You step to the counter nervously, doomsday scenarios going through your mind, fearing the package is gone forever. You do your best to smile and despite your awkwardness she smiles back.

“I’m here for a package...there was some confusion. The courier came by earlier but I thought it was a scam so I sent him away.”

“Oh yea, that happens all the time,” she says non-chalantly, “It’s good you came so quickly though, packages not claimed after several attempts are returned to sender or destroyed,” she emphasizes the middle syllable of destroyed like a New Yorker, her thick accent is cute and you’re starting to like her more.

You breathe a sigh of relief, grabbing a hold of the counter as your body relaxes.

“Oh thank you, I was so worried for a second. I thought it was a scam but then my Uncle chews me out for not taking the package. I’m so glad.” You blurt out.

Pia simply smiles at your relief, “What’s ya name? Well I don’t really need to ask but policy, you know” She asks while typing into her terminal. You give her your name and she looks you up in the system, it doesn’t take long.

“Like I figured, your the only delivery today, well not just today but for the month, we don’t get a lot of business. Looks like it was a... special package,” Pia continues to type eyes growing wider, “the order start date in the system is older than this building! Crazy. Anyway, BX28812 is our only courier, he should still have the package. Since he’s a robot he just walks, we don’t have any vehicles. Should be back in the next hour, you can verify ownership and get the package then?,” she informs you with a questioning look followed by a huge bubble she pops and works back into her mouth.

“That would be great, thank you so much. Is there anywhere I can wait?” You ask.

Pia’s eyes flash for a second then return to their professional detachment.

“Na, not really...but you could hang out in the back with me... I’m about to go on my lunch break...” she responds coyly.
