Chapter 14 by ShadeWriter ShadeWriter

What should Kendra ask?

Ask about Food

"Well you know, I could use a massage to feel better after that sore work out. Maybe you could…” Kendra started, arching her back a bit. Only for a large growl to to come out of her stomach. There was a slight pause before it happened again which caused the two women to snicker.

“Food first it seems. Okay maybe you can show me something in the kitchen first.” Kendra noted as she left her stall and started to towel off.

“Well, maybe. If been burning the last few attempts. Going maybe too fancy or complex with .” Alex sheepishly answered as she put her two index fingers together.

“Hey where was that confidence from before?”

“Gone in the trash with a couple of bad attempts.” Came the reply.

“Look I’m no chef but I could give you pointers. Come on, it’s my turn to teach you.” Kendra cheerfully quipped back as she start to drag Alex out of her stall.

After drying off and switching back to their normal clothes, the two quickly arrived in the kitchen where Kendra asked Alex to show her a dish the spy wanted to make. She seemed to think for a bit and looking over the supplies the kitchen had, decided to make a simple sandwich. The kitchen lacked the more specialized tools but could do a nice hot sandwich. So grill chicken was chosen; just something fast and not too fating.

Shockingly it came out…, bad. Too cold one side, too burnt another and don’t even get started on the toppings. How do you even do that to lettuce? Kendra was more impressed than anything but also curious about how this happened.

“Wait how…, you beat up super villains how…” but Alex was shuffling her feet and paying attention to the cat Felix rather than looking at her.

“I get… stage fright when cooking okay? Probably the best way I can put it. I get so worried about a a number of things that might could or will go wrong and panic.” The spy told her, choosing her words carefully.

"But you’ve cooked before?"

"I mean yeah usually for myself for the others but even then they tend to be talking to each other or in another room. Even alone I mess up sometimes." Alex said with her tone lowering and giving a slight sigh. Felix gave a gruff meow and patted her head with his paw.

"Hmm well let’s try again. What could we…, “ Kendra thought for a bit before picking something similar and simple. It popped in her head; Patty Melts. Well that’s what her dad called it, as he picked it up from an old food van that visited his office and learned from them. The actual name escaped her but not the point right now.

“I have just the thing” the older woman said as she started to get things out and instructed Alex on what to do.

The next hour or so was a bit of a mess of burnt food and lessons learned. In a reverse from the gym, it was Kendra’s turn to guide Alex’s motions in how to mix the ingredients. Kendra took a firm stance on how to work the skillet just right and she helped Alex practice a bit before putting the meat in. She stood behind Alex, to easily watch her motions and to take control of Alex's arms to better show what to do. Almost in a manner of a chef teaching a new cook or well maybe... a cartoonist showing someone else how to draw.

“She has firm hands, but also kinda soft.” Alex thought as she leaned into Kendra a bit more so the cartoonist could get a better hold on the spy.

Alex felt warm like this. It was somewhat difficult to really say. She felt safe around Kendra but not in a way of 'She can protect me'. And not in a motherly way either, or like those around the Sam and Clover. Kendra really was just a nice woman who got wrapped up in this crazy idea. But Alex did hope the woman did find someone when this was all over. After all, she seemed very nice, soft, strong willed when she put her mind to it it seemed, smelled nice and...

Kendra for her part was enjoying close to someone like this. Perhaps it was due to not being around people for so long and just having more human contact made her feel this way. She was usually a introvert but even she needed some human contact. This whole idea was still crazy probably a weird dream brought among some stress but, this was nice. Alex was enjoyable to be around; her upbeat nature was very energetic and infectious.

Alex turned her head, just to ask a quick question of Kendra but paused. Suddenly faced with..., well Kendra's face so close to her own, Alex kinda blanked on what she wanted to say. Kendra looked... really alluring this close and with the sun coming in. Alex's face was almost siren like in how cute she was. How inviting she looked, how close those lips where, the feeling of the other's heartbeat. There was just something happening here..., something the two wished to try... at least once. Slowly they started to more their heads closer....

"Mmmm what smells good this time?"

Clover walked in with a stretch followed shortly by Sam and the cats. The girls gave the two 'cook's' a look as they both looked flustered.

"Hey you two okay? You seem heated." Clover asked, putting a hand to Alex's head while making sure to stand between the yellow themed spy and Kendra. Lucky for the pair they had split up the moment they heard someone come. Angry Clover in a kitchen was probably a huge problem in the making.

"Probably due to the heat..., what were you two making?" Sam asked as she came over to take a look.

"Err.... Patty Melts? You want some? Kendra was showing me how to make them." Alex offered, giving a nod to the older woman.

"I mean... We do have more than enough for us all, cause we were testing out stuff. I can have some of the worse ones..., come on sit down, we'll get you two fed if you want." Kendra said, giving a mental sigh about being interrupted.

"Should I be glad they interrupted me though...? There seems to be... something there..., geeze if we get alone together again like that...., but would it be a bad thing?" Kendra thought to herself as she helped Alex make some plates.

((I promise, next chapter is probably the pay off)).

What next?
