How Does Violet Proceed?
Ask About Origin
“Your accent is rather distinctive… are you from Scotland?” Asks Violet ever so slightly cocking her head to the side.
“I… yes.. I am… me parents and I traveled south when our land went blighted… but how did YOU know..? Have ye been..?” Asks Officer Weston, her voice indicating interest as she stares into the LED face screen.
“I personally have never had the pleasure of visiting, but my voice recognition traced your accent to Scotland… Northern Scotland to be precise.” Explains Violet, hands folded behind her back as she speaks.
“Hm… neat trick…” Officer Weston mumbles under her breath, taking a drag from her cigarette, seemingly lost in thought for a moment.
“…Could ye use that on anyone..?” She says eyes narrowing ever so slightly as though searching for signs of deception in the automaton stance or the screen that comprises its face.
“Theoretically, though if a new language or accent has been invented within the last 500 years I’m afraid I’d likely be quite lost.” In truth, enough time has passed that many languages and accents have shifted such to the point that the audio processors will become muddled; misplacing dialects, misinterpreting slang. Placing which region Officer MacGregor hailed from was a challenge, a more subtle accent may be impossible to deduce.
