As if you had money to pay for anything.

Knowing you don’t have a cent to your name, your options are really quite small. Strolling back down the alley where you stashed the car last night you are amazed to find it still there, keys in it just like you left it. “Wow, I really thought someone would have stolen that.” You let out a little laugh and stuff her in the passenger seat. An awkwardly silent ride later and the two of you arrive at the Pit. “Come on. I really do feel bad about this.” You take her hand and pull her out of the car.

“So let me go.” She pleads one last time, with a tear in her eye. But you don’t give in. You can’t help but feel like a piece of shit as you lead her through the throngs of people to what might be her ****. The guards don’t bother to say anything as you arrive, simply signaling the people inside as you approach. As you walk in the beautiful woman at the door once again confiscates your weapons, and the two of you walk in.

The Wizard rises as the two of you enter. “I have to hand it to you Nightshade, I didn’t think you would come through this fast. I am impressed.” He says giving you an almost condescending little clap.

“I won’t pretend it was easy, but here she is. If you don’t mind, I have to ask. What do you plan to do with her anyway?”

“**** her for information and kill her of course. Why?” His beautiful assistants walk over and hand you a case you assume holds your money.

“I was thinking that with a talent like hers it seems like such a waste to kill her. Is there any way I could convince you to give her to me?”

“She has caused my companies so many problems it would be stupid of me to let her live. I am sorry I simply cannot risk it.”

“Not even for half of what you paid me?”

He laughs, “I am sorry but that is hardly worth the risk. Not even all of it could buy her.”

You ponder your situation, but as you glance to Misty, the pitiful look on her face is just too much to resist. “How about I do another job for you for free.” The look on his face tells you that it will take more, “I will also give you my word that both of us will never do anything against your interests, and I would even have her spend one day a week reinforcing your security for free.”

This last one seems to strike a cord with him. He stands there for a few moments considering before he finally answers. “You are too cute to resist. Fine. I do happen to have a friend that needs the assistance of someone like yourself. He asked me to relay the information to anyone I knew that was competent that he would have a meeting and hire a couple of contractors tomorrow night at a bar called The Weeping Lady in their private tables in back at 9 o’clock. He told me the mission might get messy so my initial reaction was to ignore his request, but if you can do this he will owe me a big favor. Go to the meet, do the job successfully, and I will have her here waiting for your return once you finish. Agreed?”

“I am in your debt. Thank you.” You say with a bow, “Tell your friend I will be there.” Then you turn to Misty. “Give him whatever he needs. I will be back to collect you soon.”

She mouths thank you but lowers her eyes and simply answers, “Yes mistress.” Satisfied you turn and leave.
