What's next?
Aria finds him
He is still looking when his shoulder gets tapped from behind.
He turns.
Aria.
She is leaning against the wall behind him, arms loosely crossed, the red dress still doing what it has been doing all night. She looks at him with that expression, the one that has never once pretended to be anything other than exactly what it is.
Aria: you're looking for me.
Miles: how long have you been standing there.
Aria: long enough.
She pushes off the wall and steps toward him, stopping close enough that he has to look down slightly to meet her eyes.
Aria: I got tired of waiting for you to find me.
Miles: I was getting there.
She tilts her head.
Aria: were you.
Miles: yes.
She looks at him for a long unhurried moment, something settled and certain in her expression.
Then she takes his hand, turns, and heads for the stairs without looking back.
Aria: come on then.
He follows.
