Chapter 43 by Jpyric Jpyric

You wave to her, as you head off to work.

Another perspective

As such things do, word soon spreads around your work about Lili. Just as Jane predicted, everyone wants to see a picture, and they’re disappointed that you don’t have any. However, despite some good natured ribbing, it doesn’t seem like anyone is judging you harshly for having a Hybrid. By and large, the attitude seems to be that they are more than pets, but less than human. You’re not sure if you agree with that, but if it keeps Emi safe, you’ll go along with it.

Beyond all that, it’s simply another work day, though you find that you’re anticipating going home more than usual. You worry about Emi and Lili, even though you know that they will be fine. Emi is smart, and neither of them are likely to have problems. Still, you decide that at least one of them needs to have a phone, just in case.

Later in the day you find Brian, the other coworker who has a Hybrid at home now. Much like Jane, he’s more than happy to talk about it, gushing about how happy he is with his new companion. And unlike her, he’s much more willing to talk about the nature if his relationship with them.

“Yeah, not only is she super cute and helpful, but she’s a maniac in bed! She’ll do anything, and love every second of it. And look at her!”

He shows you a picture of a very attractive woman, with a pair of small horns curling up from her forehead. She’s blonde and curvy, with big breasts, wide hips, and thick, strong legs. Wearing a tank top and short jean shorts, you see the dark markings on her legs that Jane mentioned. From the smile on her face, she at least looks like she’s happy.

Brian is smiling as well. “Yeah, she’s great! And she wants to learn to cook, too. And she’s so affectionate. How about yours?”

You nod. “Yeah, pretty much the same. She adores me already.”

He grins. “It’s nice. Sure beats living alone!”

You chuckle. “I can’t disagree, even if it does feel weird to just…purchase her.”

Brian shrugs. “I suppose. But it’s not like they’re humans. And we treat them well.”

You nod, not wanting to start an argument. “Yeah. I suppose as long as she’s happy.”

He chuckles. “Yeah! And we get to be happy too! Isn’t that the point of their creation?”

You shrug. “I guess so. It’s not like we’re hurting them.”

Brian nods. “Exactly! She’s so happy, and I make sure she stays that way. And she does the same for me. In lots of ways, if you know what I mean…”

You chat with him a while more before heading back to work. His experience seems to have been very similar to yours, just without the addition of a runaway that needs to hide. While you doubt Brian would mistreat his hybrid, you wonder if all of them will be that lucky. As you finish your workday, though, your thoughts instead go to the duo awaiting you at home, and you can’t help but smile as you clock out for the day. Heading to your car, there’s a definite spring in your step, knowing that Emi and Lili will be there waiting.

In spite of your misgivings, there’s definitely some benefits to all of this.
