Chapter 14 by SimpleWriter SimpleWriter

What does she do?

Anna decides to fix the respect problem

Anna thought about the endless stream of guys. She liked that they found her attractive, but she didn't like that they didn't care that she had work to do. It seemed to be a problem of respect.

She pulled up the app and entered a new rule.

  • All men completely respect women all the time.

Anna felt very proud of that, but then a problem occurred to her. It could make things too lopsided. It wasn't natural for everyone to respect everyone all the time. Some people didn't deserve respect. If she made one group always respect another, then a full grown man could think that a female toddler's opinion on drinking poison was valid!

Men could stand to be more respectful to women in general, but the main problem seemed to be that attraction clouded their judgement. So maybe a more subtle, targeted rule would be better. One that offset the problem of guys getting tunnel vision more and more as they found a woman more and more attractive.

  • All men have basic respect for women, but the more attractive they find the woman, the more respect they have.

"Okay," whispered Anna to herself, "that should balance things out."

She published the change.

What effect does the change have?
