Anna Plays a Prank

James could feel his heat racing as he naked remained on all fours on the upper floor of the pet store. There was no way of getting out of here without being seen and it was only a matter of time before someone came up here. In fact, he could hear footsteps coming up the stairs now. There was no way he could explain this, especially as the crazy bitch had him barking at the beginning and end of every sentence.

"Ruff! There's someone coming! Can't you use the curse to magic me back to your place or something Ruff!" James panicked.

"No, just play along. Trust me, this will be funny!"

"Ruff! Not for me it won't! Ruff!"

It was no good. It was too late for even Rebecca's magic to get James out of this one. Someone was coming towards them and he was going to have to ride this out. Sure enough, before long a large, middle aged woman had located James and Anna, had gasped in shock and was ready to berate them. Even the dog she had with her was looking at James funny.

"Just what do you two think you are doing!" The woman asked sternly. Anna gave a tug on James's lead to indicate he should be answering this.

"Ruff! I'm Anna's pet dog James Miss, she's choosing some food for to buy me for my dinner later Ruff!"

The woman's face turned a kind of puce "Is this supposed to be some kind of joke?" she bellowed.

"Ruff! No, like I said I'm a dog, just like your's Ruff!"

"That's it I'm calling the manager!" the woman yelped as she turned towards the stairs. As soon as she was out of sight Anna leaned down and whispered in James' ear.

"Turn back into a dog!"

Not long later, the outraged customer returned downstairs with the assistant who had been helping Anna with James's dog bowl before.

"Okay, can you show me the woman who has a naked man on a lead, Mrs Johnson" the assistant asked patiently.

"Yes it was her!" she pointed at Anna before looking down and pointing at the golden retriever sitting by her feet "It was...there was a naked man there before! On that exact lead! He was called James and he spoke to me!"

"James is her pet dog Mrs Johnson!" the shop assistant tried not to sound patronising but didn't really pull it off "I saw her bring him in. I would have noticed if she had a naked man with her when she entered the shop, trust me!"

"But I'm telling you he was there on that lead less than a minute ago!" Mrs Johnson insisted. Anna just gave a bemused shrug.

"It's okay Mrs Johnson we all get confused sometimes" the shop assistant silently mouthed an apology to Anna before leading the very bewildered customer back upstairs. Mrs Johnson's pet turned and barked at Anna's before leaving. It had been left behind to witness the transformation but had no better way of communicating with the humans than James currently did.

"There wasn't that funny!" Anna knelt down and stroked James's back affectionately. But he couldn't help but feel that the biggest joke was still on him.
