You huff and sit down on the dirt, leaning against the stone wall with your legs crossed as Ace chitters mischievously from his little nest in your hair. Giving one final glare to the very bruised and beaten boy in front of you, you let out a tired sigh and stick out your hand for a shake.

"Luna. Luna Serpen. I take it that you're the one the League sent to be my 'partner'?"

He blinks a bit before shaking his head quickly as if to snap himself out of thought. He hesitantly takes your hand to shake.

"S-Steve. Steve O'dent. Uh, yeah, that's me"

You gauge him carefully as you shake his hand. Sweaty palm, nervous shifting, did his eyes flick to the right slightly? Is that a liars tick you see? Hmmm... You pull your hand away and move your head about, eyes sweeping behind him.

"And where is the girl?"

You have to repress a smirk as you see him go rigid, his eyes widen and you see the slight indentation of his cheek. Clearly, he's biting his cheek, thinking of how to proceed.

"O-Oh her?"

"S-She uh, had to go buy Pokèballs! A uh, Bibarel bit into our bag! Had to shoo it off with my manly-"

You groan and hold up a hand.

"Ok, I'm going to stop you there. First off, if you're going to lie, at least make it believable. Secondly, there is no girl. Third, you don't even find Bibarels around here, you're thinking of a Bidoof."

You cross your arms and give him a soft warning glare.

"So, I would like the truth. Now, please."

He closes his slack-jawed mouth and sputters for a moment, but after a few seconds he lets out a sigh.

"Ok, ok. I guess this is why my brother told me not to trust you... He didn't want to do the job, but he wasn't allowed to get his Dex without accepting it. So... We swapped clothes and he ran off with the Dex. The reports are just by email, so chances of us getting caught were next to none."

Your smirk falls a little as you see him glance off in the distance.

"...Except, he didn't expect me to catch on and now you're worried about what else he's not considering, right?"

He winced hard at that. At least his worry for his family is something you could respect. And, thinking about it, the plan wasn't too bad. Just kind of have shit luck that he was dealing with you, an ex-grunt, and that terrible liar's tick. You sigh and stand up, before offering your hand again.

"Well, the way I see it is neither of us wants to go to jail, you need me to stay quiet and I want my personal space. You keep your eyes to modest glances, and I'll forget that you aren't your brother. That sound like a deal?"

Giving him a reassuring smirk, you pull him up onto his feet where he gives you a tight, crushing bear-hug.

"Thank you, thankyou thankyou!"

Frantically you tap his shoulder and try to pull away.

"Ow, Air! I need air!"

"Oh, sorry..."

As he releases you from his iron-clad grip, you gasp for sweet, sweet life-giving air and stumble away from him.

"Not a.. Don't mention it Steve-o"

Taking a couple of breaths and some affectionate nuzzles from Ace, you take stock of Steve once again. He'd be good for a meatshield, seems like he's willing to listen to reason... Wait, where's his Pokéballs?

"Steve... You, do have a Pokémon, right?"

He gulps and shifts his eyes to the side before grinning sheepishly.

"I uh, was hoping you could handle that?"

You groan and glare at him for a good few seconds, mentally burning him to the ground with the laser eyes you totally have. Sighing, you pull out the Sinnoh Map you were given for the trip.

"...Ok, so. Here's what we're going to do. You are going to go back to Oreburgh, buy some Pokéballs, two... no make that three potions, and meet back up with me. I will be here picking some berries and getting Ace here some battle experience in with any other Zubats we find. Ace should be a high enough level that he can hold his own for a bit. Now, go. Get some hustle tons-o-fun!"

He blinks a bit as he followed along, before jolting slightly and jogging off down the hill, into Oreburgh City proper. You take a last, good look at your previous home and sigh wistfully before you hear Ace skree and start snuggling your cheek again, causing you to laugh and turn around towards the cave.

"Alright, alright. I'm excited too. Let's get the show on the road then!"

You grin as you watch your Ace cause the last Zubat in the area to flee. Ace even learned a new move! It wasn't much, just Astonish, but it was good to have a diverse move-pool. You giggle and give Ace a high-five, or a high-wing in his case.

"Good work Ace! I knew you could do it! Now, all we have to do is wait for Steve"

"Oh, Luna! You missed one! Here, I'll catch it while it's weak!"

Wait, what? You swivel your head back to Steve and time seems to slow to a crawl as you see him throw the Pokéball... At Ace

You gasp and use the utmost of your reflexes to bat the Pokéball away, scowling deeply as you don't notice the Ball land on the ground and open up.

"STEVE, WHAT THE FUCK!? That's Ace! He doesn't like being in a Pokéball!"

You huff and put your hands on your hips which suddenly aren't there.

Wait.

You look down only to see a familiar red glow creep up your body, over your large breasts, and fully encase you, making your whole body feel numb as you get sucked into the Pokéball. Darkness overtakes your vision as you feel strange, uncomfortable and... Warm? Right on your chest, where that necklace you had gotten rested. The warmth gives you pause, as you relax and find that it makes the uncomfortable feeling ebb away. This is nice, maybe it is time for a nap...

Meanwhile, Steve's jaw almost hits the floor as he sees the Pokéball land in the pile of clothes that you were wearing blink once.

Twice.
