An unusual spear.

You find yourself sifting through a rack of weapons at one f the curio stalls when your hand falls on the black haft of a most unusual spear. The wood feels harder, more resilient than any you've felt before, and the slightly curved blade of a short sword rests on the end instead of a typical spear point.

The pristine steel of the blade is engraved with a pair of ravens, and you now notice some kind of writing inlaid into the shaft in silver. You can't read the words: you don't even recognize the script.
"A discerning eye, young one." The old man rasps.
"I've never seen such a weapon."
"It is very old, from a far away land across the sea."
"What is this writing?"
The old man shrugs. "No one I've ever met can decipher the script. The language is not of this part of the world, I think." He smiles. "It is a fine weapon."

}However, when you start to ask how much he wants for the weapon, you find you cannot form the words. Your hand tries to recoil from the weapon. "What is this? I cannot... I wish to...."
"Ah, yes. I've encountered this before. It is perhaps why I still have the spear. It seems to have an... affinity for the corrupted. It will only yield its true power to one whose soul has been tainted by the demon's evil." He gives you a look. "I guess you are yet too pure."
You frown. You can tell, intrinsically, that the weapon is powerful. It seems a shame.
"Perhaps...some day..." you ponder. {else
}"How much?"
The man smiles. "I thought so..." the words seem to be for himself, but you don't understand what he means. "60 gold pieces."
