Chapter 38 by Mattahouen Mattahouen

The power of will is strong

An unexpected phone call

I awoke to the sound of my phone buzzing. Groggily, I answer it. "Hello?"

"Mr. Doe, I would just like to say that I have been feeling terrible all night because of the way I attempted to ambush you. I must say you did well to escape it. Now, I only feel bad, because you showed the courtesy in not killing Zenyatta when I sent him with a message" said the mysterious voice.

"You're welcome. I wouldn't want you to have killed one of my group had I sent her in good faith." I reply, all sleep now gone from my voice.

"Indeed, seeing as you are a reasonable opponent, I find it suitable to give you a very important piece of information. We will be attacking you tomorrow, at midday with everything we have. I apolgise for any losses you may suffer in advance."

"Thank you for the warning, we will be ready to receive you. I also apologise in advance. May the best man win." And with that, I hang up. My head swirling.

A few hours pass before the girls start to wake up. I even go to collect Widowmaker. Once again, she's in her tree. "I just got a call from the enemy leader. You need to come inside so I can brief you all at once." Without giving her the opportunity to decline, I walk away.

The five girls are all sitting around the table, chomping hungrily at the breakfast I made them. Once the food was all finished, a pissed off Widowmaker even turned up.

"Why are you here?" Hana asked rudely.

"Shut your mouth child. I'm here for mission briefing" Widowmaker replied venomously.

"Mission? Did something happen?" Angela asked.

"Yes. This morning, while you were all asleep, the enemy leader called me." All the girls except Widowmaker started mumbling worriedly. "Thankfully, he appreciates that I didn't allow Zenyatta's **** when he sent him with a message. Because of this, he revealed that he will be attacking us at midday. Tomorrow. He also wished us good luck." I said calmly.

Instead of bursting in commotion like I thought they would, the girls all remained silent. A worried look on each of their faces, except Widowmaker of course, who looked stone cold as always. "I say we enjoy today in each other's company" the girls all nodded and went seperate ways. Leaving me to clean up.

That went better than expected
