Chapter 2 by creamy_goodness creamy_goodness

Does Melody give in and make a move on the guy?

An unexpected guest arrives.

Melody was suddenly jolted from these thoughts by the sound of the door opening. She sighed to herself and realized she had forgotten to turn off the 'come on in, we're open' sign. She turned her back to the bar without looking and said to the room "Sorry, bars closed."

"Oh, come on beautiful," a familiar voice said, "don't be like that." Melody gritted her teeth and cursed softly. She turned around and stared daggers at the man now standing near the bar.

"Jeff, I swear to god, I'm not in the fucking mood."

Her ex-boyfriend Jeff only grinned in response. She saw to her frustration that he was still as good looking as when they broke up. This was despite the fact that he still had his long, blonde hair tied up in that stupid fucking man bun he liked so much. He had also finally shaved his beard, which let his naturally boyish features shine through. She could see that he was still tall, still well-built, and still had that debonair look to his eyes that drove most girls crazy. She quickly shook away these thoughts and pointed angrily toward the door.

"You need to leave," she said frustratedly. "I'm serious. We are closed."

"Hey, hey," he said, putting both his hands up, "The hostility seems a little much don't you think? I just came to see how you were doing."

"Well as you can see", she said, "I'm fine."

Jeff's grin grew even wider as he looked around the trashed seating area and the still sleeping patron at the end of the bar. "I can see that," he said sarcastically. They stood in awkward silence for a few moments before she picked up a towel from under the bar and began to wipe down the old wood surface while looking at him.

"What do you want?" she asked abrasively.

"Like I said," he replied, "I wanted to check up on you. Maybe talk. Hadn't heard from you in a while. Wanted to make sure you were okay."

"Well there's a reason you haven't heard from me, Jeff," she said "because we broke up and I didn't want to talk to you anymore."

"Oh right, I forgot," he said good naturedly.

'God,' she thought, 'he's still just as charming as ever.'

Jeff looked out over the messy tables before looking back at her. "Do you need some help cleaning up in here? Maybe a hand seeing this guy off. I don't mind."

For a split second, she thought his offer was genuine, but then she remembered that under all that charm and good looks was a real asshole. But then again, she thought, looking out at the mess her customers had left her, if she did this by herself she could be here all night. Plus there was the matter of the sleeping guy at the bar. "I don't know Jeff," she said in a tired voice.

Does she let him help?
