"How do you know magic anyways?"

"It's a long story, but the basics are that magic is real, but only certain bloodlines were able to use it. I just got lucky that my great great grandparents both came from magic. So the bond is still strong in my family. Unfortunately, it also places a heavy burden on the magic users."
