An interesting proposal

The rest of the week follows a similar pattern. Emi greets you with affection, to say the least, every day when you come home. The two of you spend a lot of time in bed, and when you’re not in bed together, you’re still inseparable. You shower together, you eat together, you even take her out shopping with you! When she puts on a hat to hide her ears, and tucks her tail into a dress or pants, no one even gives her a second glance.

Her coughing worries you, though. It’s persistent, though it doesn’t seem to be worsening, yet. But you can’t take her to a doctor, as she’s very obviously not human, and you’re still hesitant about contacting CompanionCorp. There’s no telling what they would do, and seeing the head of research on television didn’t ease your worries.

Still, you’re happier now than you have been in a long time. The week flys by, a blur of happiness and love, and Emi seems to smile more and more. Though she’s still hesitant, and occasionally stumbles over her words, she shows nothing but affection towards you.

One thing you realize is that Emi is very smart. Smarter, in fact, than the stories you’ve heard of other Hybrids would suggest. You can’t help but wonder if that was partially why she was subjected to the experiments she was. Regardless, she spends the day while you’re at work learning. She grasps concepts easily, and devours knowledge eagerly.

Friday evening, as you’re relaxing together on the couch, you get an email notification on your phone. Curious, you take a look. Emi leans against your shoulder, reading along with you. It’s from CompanionCorp, and the contents are interesting, to say the least.

Hello Mr. Stevens,

We are pleased to inform you that a space has opened up in our preorder queue. Unfortunately, one of our customers has backed out. We would like to extend an offer to you to fill their spot.

This offer does come with some conditions, however. You will be unable to select a different Hybrid, as this was from our exotic line, and not transferable. You would need to accept the previous customers selection. That being said, we’re certain you will be satisfied. In addition, as there are no specialized CompanionCorp doctors in your region, you would need to go through one of our approved medical contractors for medical care. A list will be provided upon acceptance.

To compensate for these conditions, we will be offering a substantial discount on the cost, as we cannot continue to house the Hybrids due to high demand for the non-exotic lines.

You set your phone down. That’s quite the surprise! Still, probably not something you’d be interested in. You already have Emi here, and you don’t want to raise suspicions about her. You’re about to delete the email when Emi speaks up.

“Andy. I have an idea. What if you accept?”

You look at her curiously. “What? Why?”

She points to the section about medical care. “You’ve been worried about…my cough. This is a doctor that isn’t attached to the company. Maybe…maybe they can take a look?”

You nod. “That’s really clever, actually. But what about the Hybrid?”

Emi shrugs. “I wouldn’t mind another one here. And you’ve been so wonderful to me…maybe you can make them happy too?”

You look at her for a moment, then slowly nod. “I suppose…if you’re really interested in this.”

Emi nods. “I am. I think it would be good. And…three can be fun as much as two…”

The cat girl blushes as she says that, and you burst out laughing. “Emi! Aren’t you a naughty girl!”

Still blushing, she giggles.
