Chapter 7
by croland
What happens when the new Ruby is face to face with her old body?
An empty body can be fun all on its own
Ruby saw the gorgeous redhead wearing nothing but underwear sitting in a folding chair in the corner of the studio. To Ruby the empty husk that used to house her identity stuck out. Not only because it was mostly nude, but because of its vacant stare. She remembered what it was like to have no personality. The utter calm and peace, of complete ego-****. Part of her wondered how bad it would be to keep her like that.
But what fun would that be? The thing could take care of itself okay. She was sure the body still had all of her own memories. It could remember it needed to sleep, and go to the bathroom, and eat, but where would it get food? Ruby could keep her old body at one of her homes, it could be nice to have a hollow shell to that wouldn't mind being used any way she could imagine. The old Ruby never would have had the courage to do that.
Before doing anything else Ruby grabbed the empty husk and rushed off to her trailer ducking the various crew and production staff who needed her attention. She just need a little more time alone.
"So," Ruby said once the door was safely shut. "How does it feel knowing you used to be Ruby Johnson, millionaire-actress?"
"There is no emotion. There is no 'me' in this body to feel any emotion." The human-shaped shell said.
A thrill ran up Ruby's spine. She was never like this before. The thought of having her own personal meat-puppet would have been horrifying to the old Ruby. That's because the old Ruby had never known what it was like to have nothing. Not the way Diana had. Ruby realized now how little the old her appreciated her privilege. This could be very educational, Ruby tried to rationalize to herself, promising herself she would one day give Ruby a personality. Maybe even she'd put Dr. Kahn's identity in her. That would be funny, seeing the fair-skinned redhead going home to her Pakistani parents' home for the holidays, none of them being the wiser.
Ruby had never realized how wonderful it was to be powerful, she wasn't going to squander that any longer.
"So you wouldn't mind if I called you a stupid cow, would you?" Ruby said.
"Of course not." No one said.
"Do you have to do anything I say?" Ruby said.
"There is no 'me' to make any choices. There is no reason not to obey you. Nor is there a reason to."
Ruby didn't really understand the answer. Would she have to do some more modifications? She could get out the stickers and turn this person into her own personal sex-robot. Or simply see what else she could do with this empty human body.
How far will this new 'Ruby' go to play with the old version?
