Chapter 16 by Spectre.exe Spectre.exe

What will happen next?

An attempt at comforting

'Damn, what am I supposed to do now? Should I go inside or what?' you think, panicking slightly as you keep watching. Mihrana isn't stopping her crying as the water kept falling on her; quite the contrary in fact, she's just curled into a small ball with head tucked into her chest and her arms wrapped around her knees - something which just serves to enhance the image of fragility that she is giving at the moment.

'I can't just stand there and let her cry like. It's not... shit, this is messed up,' you curse in your head before backing off a few paces. Making it seem as if you were just passing by, you stop for a moment in front of the bathroom's door to make it seem more believable before knocking nervously on the door, making sure it doesn't move much. To be fair though, the nervousness isn't faked at all because the idea that she could break down and start crying wasn't one that had crossed your mind at any point. Her programming was much more complex that you'd never thought possible.

"Mihrana, are you okay? I can hear crying. Can... can I do anything to help?" you say, trying to give the right amount of anxiousness and concern to your voice. Despite everything, your pulse is racing - you know you shouldn't be thinking about such a thing, but your eyes inevitably wander to the perfect, smooth skin of hers through the the small gap.

Mihrana takes a moment to answer, during which you can see she's gathering her wits and wiping her eyes as she rises from the floor. "No, no, thank you - I'll be done in a bit," she says, but it's impossible to miss the way her voice slightly cracks halfway through it. You feel oddly chastised all of a sudden for some reason and decide to ignore the wavering of her voice, if only for her own sake.

"Well, okay. I'll be waiting outside," you tell her and leave the corridor to wait for her to finish her shower.

Not long afterwards, Mihrana is done and returns to the living room, this time wearing some of your old clothes. It's admittedly a bit strange seeing what looks to be an elf clad in modern, Earth-style clothing... but if anything, it just makes her look all the more beautiful. Her hair is still a bit damp from the shower and some drops of water fall from it, but you refrain from mentioning it. Not like it matters much anymore.

"That was... pleasant. Very different from what I'm used to. Thank you for letting me use it," Mihrana says as she climbs into the couch once again.

"Of course, it's the least I could do given your situation," you reply with a shrug before giving her a critical look, weighing in your mind whether you should talk to her about what happened in the shower. In the end, you decide to go for it. "Listen... I know this is all very sudden for you. I'm really sorry that you've been separated from your friends and I understand that your situation... well, that's not something you can shrug off just like that," you begin saying, though it's more of an awkward couple of platitudes strung along.

Regardless, even if her face is blank of any reaction, you still have her full attention as you continue speaking. "I just wanted you to know that I'm here for you. You literally have no one that knows you in this world and the only reason I believe your story is because I saw how you made magic just like that. I wouldn't throw you out to the wolves like that - I want to help if I can," you say, moving closer to her in order to put a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

You notice that though she doesn't move closer, she doesn't move away from the touch either. 'Huh, I half expected her to shove it away.'

But then Mihrana surprises you further when she lets out a deep sigh, slumping into the couch. "I won't lie. All of this - it's... hard for me. All of my friends and allies are a world away and I have no real way of getting back, stranded in a world without magic," she confesses before she turns to look at you. "Thank you for the offer. I wouldn't want to impose on your generosity so much, but as you said, I know no one else in this place and at least, you're already aware of my predicament."

You're quick to give her a nod of agreement. "Of course! I'll help in any way I can. I have a spare bedroom in the house that you can take. It'll probably be nothing to what you're used as huh, the Inquisitor, was it? But it's better than nothing."

"I lived in the wilds of the Free Marches as a Dalish elf before I became the Inquisitor of Thedas. Trust me, I can handle little luxury; in fact, I'll welcome it," she replied with a snort.

"I have no idea what Dalish is supposed to mean, but I'll take your word for it," you reply with the best straight face you can manage before groaning. "I can see we'll have our days full explaining our world to each other."

"Well, apparently I have nothing but time now," she says with a wry smile, but waves off your your cringed apology. "No need for it - better to laugh in the face of adversity than to fall to despair, as Keeper Istimaethoriel used to say to me."

"Wow, that is one big mouthful of a name. Still, they are words to live by, for sure," you agree with a smile. "Well, do you want me to show the house? So you know where everything is."

Some hours later, the sun is already gone and with you both having just finished dinner, you decide to retire to your rooms.

Despite the rollercoaster that today has proven to be , you have trouble falling asleep, questioning your actions and wondering if you should have acted differently. Perhaps you should have taken Mihrana right there when you activated her? That was the reason you bought her, after all...

"No, no... I could get my dick wet with any chick. I wanted her because of the thrill of getting into her pants specifically," you mutter to yourself, turning restlessly on your bed.

Yes, you'd done well taking a more measured approach when interacting with her, you decide. As long as you show some interest in her sooner or later, you're set to go - especially if VGR's programming makes it so that she's more receptive to your advances than if she was the actual Mihrana Lavellan.

Right in that exact moment, the door slowly opens and Mihrana's head peeks through the gap. "Hey, you still awake?"

Startled, you sit up. "Uh - sure, what's wrong, Mihrana?"

She steps into the room and you can make out the nervous look on her face as she approaches the bed. "It's just... I hate admitting this, but I'd prefer to sleep with you tonight if possible. I'll lose my sanity if I don't feel someone close to me tonight," she says, shuffling awkwardly on the spot. From what you've seen of her personality today, this is probably quite hard for her to admit, but she still did it. And how could you say no to that?

"Oh... well, no problem. Jump in, then," you say as you pull back the covers, watching in silence as she climbs into the bed and settles into it.

"Thank you - I know this must be quite uncomfortable for you."

You can only sigh to that. "Don't worry about it. Do you... want me to hold you?" you ask and surprisingly, she doesn't deny the question. Instead, she inches closer to your body until she's pressing up to you.

"Yes, please... just for tonight. Ma serannas."

You can feel the form of her small breasts pressing against your chest as she rests her head on the crook of your neck, the way her legs tangle with yours as she clings tightly to your body - as if fearing that you'd disappear the moment she let go. You're amazed yet again at how life-like the company made her; despite being a woman of considerable strength and resilience, Mihrana is still capable of showing fragility in such bizarre situation.

Still, you hope to God she doesn't notice the growing hardness of your cock, but just in case, you wiggle a bit to make it harder for her to notice. No point in scaring her away from the get go.

"Try to sleep, Mihrana. Tomorrow will be another day," you whisper to her as you close your eyes. This time, it doesn't take you long to fall asleep to the sound of Mihrana's even breathing.

You've made it to the next day. What now?
