An Empty Feeling

Eve couldn't explain why, but she started feeling a little... empty inside. Looking around, she saw everyone having a good time at the picnic. The smiles of the adults, the laughter of children, the kindness of the other sisters.

And yet, it all seemed so... pointless. Eve didn't have words to describe it, but she felt a little down, like she shouldn't even be here. This was supposed to be a day of merriment and joy. Why did she feel so sad?

"Something wrong, Eve? You look kind of glum." Beckham asked, concerned.

Eve shook her head. "I don't know. I feel... sad for some reason." She said. "It's a happy day, but... I don't know. I'll take the waters back to the picnic, but I think I'd like to be left alone for a bit after that."

"You sure?" Beckham asked. "They're doing a ring toss later. You don't wanna take part in that"

Eve shook her head. "I don't know, I just don't feel... motivated anymore. She said. She sighed, then both she and Beckham grabbed the waters and walked off.

From afar, a giant woman stood, invisible to all except Eve, though she wasn't looking that way at the moment. Her pet, the raven-spider from before, was perched on her shoulder. She looked glumly at the picnic.

"Everyone looks happy." despair said softly. "What am I doing here? What's the point? The universe will just die some day, so why bother with fun? Come on, Calamity. Might as well see how this goes... not that it matters in the end."

despair walked off towards Eve, Calamity flying behind her.
