An Easter Surprise

John and Jane exit their car at the community park. Children flock and cheer finding Easter eggs scattered throughout the greenery. John can't help but notice the large twisting and intersecting walls of a maze, made out of tall bushes.

"How did they manage to get all this put together in a night?" John asked.

Jane shrugged. "Might have something to do with that board?"

She received a playful nudge on the shoulder. "Maybe you're right. The Easter Bunny and Superman helped too, I bet," John said facetiously, earning a roll of the eyes from his girlfriend.

The two made their way across to the maze, holding hands and narrowly avoiding children, whose parents were preoccupied on their phones or too deep in conversation to notice.

"I'm going to go in first," Jane says.

John shakes his head, then pulls ouf his phone. "Alright, I've got to make a quick call. Be right in."

She enters the maze and begins to scout around for eggs, watching for off-colored spots among the green. Her search carries her deeper inside, taking left and right turns that take her into the labyrinth.

"Aha!" she shouted victoriously, picking up a plastic purple egg from the ground. She opens it, finding a single die. Her heart stops momentarily as she recognizes it as the same from the board. The faces all show the image of an egg carved into it.

"...Huh?"

She takes her head away from the egg, noticing that she can't hear any sounds from outside--no screaming children or conversations--only the sounds of wind blowing through the bushes.

As Jane wanders deeper into the giant bush maze, the dense foliage closes in around her, casting eerie shadows as the sunlight struggles to penetrate the thick canopy above. The twisting paths seem to lead in circles, disorienting her even further. Panic begins to set in as she realizes she's truly lost in this labyrinth of greenery.

The rustling of leaves and the occasional animal scurrying by only add to Jane's unease. She tries to retrace her steps, but every turn looks the same, every bush identical to the last. Time seems to stretch on endlessly as she wanders aimlessly, her heart pounding in her chest.

The air grows cooler as evening approaches, and the maze takes on a sinister vibe in the fading light. Shadows dance around her, playing tricks on her mind.

"Hello? John? Anyone?" Her voice is swallowed by the walls of greenery surrounding her.

Exhausted and scared, Jane eventually finds a small clearing in the maze. She collapses to the ground, tears of frustration and fear streaming down her face. The daunting realization sinks in that she may never find her way out of this giant bush maze.

Something stumbles upon Jane just as curious as her predicament-- a large bunny, its fur a snowy white that seems to glow in the dimming light of the maze. Its eyes, a deep, almost hypnotic shade of blue, lock onto hers as it sniffs the air curiously. The bunny's surprising aspect was its abnormal size; Jane suspected it could reach her shoulders if it stood on its hind legs.

"Oh my! You're... pretty big, huh?" Jane thought aloud. "Or...maybe I shrunk a little?" That couldn't be--the walls were the same height they had been before.

The bunny's ears twitch as it tilts its head, seemingly studying Jane with an intelligence that goes beyond what she thought possible for a rabbit. Its movements are graceful and deliberate, almost as if it's trying to communicate with her in some mysterious way.

Despite the fear that still lingers in her chest, Jane can't help but feel a strange sense of calm wash over her in the presence of this magnificent creature. The bunny takes a step closer, its paws making soft thuds on the ground, and nuzzles against Jane gently, as if offering her comfort in the midst of her confusion and fear.

For a moment, Jane forgets about being lost in the maze as the bunny rubs against her.
