Chapter 3 by SquashedFlat SquashedFlat

Who?

An Ally! Samantha Simmons, The Time Wolf

(Originally by Zucca Xerfantes)

Texas stepped out of the office, stretching her arms over her head. The day was quiet. But at risk of jumping out of her skin should that change, the sheriff kept her eyes and ears alert and her body tense.

The town doctor, Howliday, chided her that the tension would put her in an early grave sooner than a vengeful bandit with an ass to grind.

Still, it served its purpose.

But not a damned thing in the world would have prepared Texas for what happened. And the sheriff had seen some truly demented shit in her time.

She saw what looked like a mirror, but it was... floating above the street...?

Circling it, she saw one side of it was a swirling black void that felt like looking down a gulch... and the other side looked like a street... but it was clean, white, smooth, with buildings to match beyond it.

Texas' jaw hung open in confusion and awe just in time to see a wolf woman in a figure-hugging blue bodysuit come dart around the corner, shooting what looked like a pistol... if a pistol shot bolts of green light!

She couldn't move her feet, fixed in one spot, as the wolf leaped backwards through the opening, ass-first, slamming it right into Texas' face!

Both women fell to the ground as the portal closed.

Texas' face had been smooshed into many a backside in her time, but this was the first time the experience hadn't been a traumatizing one. At least to her nostrils... The black-haired, gray wolf's booty smelled of vanilla and rubber.

"Ooofh!!! Gerrof me, ya' varmint!!!" The weasel muffledly exclaimed.

The wolfess pried her generous butt off of the sheriff's face and turned around, kneeling to help up the fallen lawwoman.

"I am SO sorry about that... Look, I wasn't watching where I was-OHCRAP! It's gone AGAIN?!" The woman yowled.

"Wh-What's gone...? What again..?" The sheriff was clueless.

"My time machine! The agency's gonna paste me for sure this time! I-ohhh double-crap... I'm not even in my own time anymore... aaaaand I've just revealed I'm a time traveler to a sentient, more-or-less modern person. Super! Spectacular!" She howled.

Texas took off her glove and WHACKED the wolfess across the chops hard enough to make her torso corkscrew tightly, squishing her...!

-BRRZAP!!-

"OW! That wasn't cool!!! I don't know what barn or cave you were raised in, but you can't just hit pe-" Texas sighed and threw her own ample rump onto the blue-clad wolfess' face, smooshing her into the dirt.

-BRRZAP!!-

"Okay... SERIOUSLY not nice! Don't hit me or sit on me again!"

"Again...?" Texas mumbled. She hadn't hit her. Though she'd been thinking about it. Or sitting on her just to make her stop talking...

"Err, sorry. Short-range time backleap. Feature of the suit. Which, thanks to you, now only has two charges left. Thanks loads for that, by the way!" She huffed.

"D'ya wanna tell me just who in the Hell you are before I ACTUALLY hit you?" Texas groaned.

"Samantha Simmons, Time Enforcement Agency!" She tapped her badge, which Texas had just noticed.

"Ahh, fellow law woman, huh? Was that... window or what-have-you, your time machine?" Texas asked. She'd read Jules Verne's works but after reading 'The Time Machine', which gave her nightmares, she vowed never to broach the subject again.

Now it's here, broaching itself, like everything else in the weasel's life.

"Nope... I was being shot at when I crossed the threshold and my time machine got lost. Again... It's somewhere within a few miles, that at least I know." Samantha said.

"Well, I'm inclined to help a fellow law officer out. So let's get a move on." Texas mumbled, tipping her hat.

"I can't even begin to thank you enough! At least this time I've found a friendly face and not a bunch of stupid dinosaurs that want to mash me into paste..." Samantha breathed.

"Dinosaurs...?" Texas asked skeptically.

"Errr.... um..... Thunder Lizards? Giant bones in the badlands? Well, they belonged to massive creatures. And thanks to those stupid lizards, the academy is filled with video of me being eaten and mashed up, ground into paste, spitroasted by cannibal pigs, squashed by a giant chief and used as buttfloss before being crammed into her pucker and my personal favorite, getting chewed up and blown into a bubble by a tyrannosaurus-freaking-rex prior to being swallowed! All the timelines where I apparently screwed up got... cluttered. So there's ample time-dilation video showing all of that! From every angle! Best part, the professors MAKE ME WATCH TOO. IN FRONT OF EVERYONE... I've never been so humiliated..."

Texas listened as the futuristic wolfess carried on, wallowing in self-pity. Tex knew she wasn't the mightiest in the West, but a complainer she was not.

"I'mma ask at the saloon. Maybe someone saw your doo-hickey." Texas said.

"'The Crushed Weasel', huh? Is there a story there...?" Samantha curiously asked.

Texas' face reddened. "Yeah. A stupid one. Don't ask." She snipped, stepping up to the swinging doors.

Samantha cut in front of her. "Sorry, sorry... I've just ALWAYS wanted to do this..."

The wolfess flung open the doors dramatically... and YAPPED as they violently sprung back to slam into her with such **** as to smear her across both of them. She slowly slid down, dropping into a pile of blue, gray and black mush, her gold eyes looking pitifully up at Tex, who chuckled sheepishly.

"Yeeeah, sorry about that, sugar. The fat cow what runs this place, Anna, put a mighty strong spring into the doors after she got tired of replacin' em when people opened them too fast."

-BRRZAP!-

"Oh SON OF A-!" Samantha yelled from behind Tex as the weasel carefully pushed open the doors, looking over her shoulder, holding them open a little to let the time traveler in. "S-Sorry! Just a time-traveler thing..." She mumbled, down to one charge left on her suit until she could find one of the scattered power cells.

They pair stepped in and the music stopped, the denizens staring at the pair.

"Who's the sexy little slip, Sheriff?" The obese mare propping up the bar asked after a throaty belch. "And how much is it to roll in the hay with her?"

"Ease up, deputy. Out of towner. She lost summin' pretty important." Texas said, stepping between Samantha and Georgia.

Samantha's face reddened some. Both at the insult and the implication that followed it, as well as Texas' protectiveness of her. A far cry from the prehistoric shenanigans. "Th-That's right! It's a box with a little scre-err, window on it that glows!"

Georgia smirked, looking the pair over and replied with...
