Chapter 6 by ldnldn ldnldn

What's next?

Amaya finds herself surrounded by people and tries to sneak by...

Amaya kept walking. The grunts and yells of the exercise group were slowly fading away, only to be replaced by the general murmurs and laughter of… someone else? A big group of people by the sound of it, and they were close. But where? “Ugh, I can’t see anything. Stupid fog…”

As if answering her call again, Mother Nature sent a gust of wind across the forest, blowing away the fog. Amaya’s skin became covered in goosebumps, and not only because of the cold wind. Somehow, she had managed to walk to the middle of a giant glade. Friends sat on picnic mats all around her, Lovey-dovey couples shared kisses under the canopy of the park, and it seemed like the local retirement home had organized an outdoor game of bingo to boot.

“Me and my big mouth…I thought local parks were dying. Why did everyone decide to go out today?” Amaya lamented, hugging the rough bark of the tree next to her. It was a miracle no one spotted her shapely behind, but the way people moved around, it was just a matter of time. She had to get out of there.

Amaya spotted a path forward, it involved running from tree to tree to the end of the glade. With cold sweat running down her temple, she waited for the right opening to move to her next hiding spot.

Looking at the giant crowd of people around her, Amaya could feel her soul attempt to prematurely vacate her body. Talk about a big crowd, and she recognized some of them from her college too. She prayed to whatever mischievous deity was mocking her that day to have a bit of mercy. Just the once.

Finally, the chance came. The couple closest to Amaya began feeding each other apple slices. While they only had eyes for each other, Amaya ran to the next tree in line.

The dash took only seconds, but time stretched beyond reason in her run. Amaya was acutely aware of each motion of her arms, each sway of her breasts, each blade of grass tickling her feet for the scant moment they touched the ground.

She winced in anticipation for a surprised gasp. A whistle, maybe even laughter. None came. She reached the tree, circled it, and poked her pretty head out to see when the next chance to run would present itself.

The opportunity came as a group of friends on the picnic mat just in front of her got into an argument about who was supposed to bring cookies. Amaya sprinted to the next tree. Then, as people got up to play Ultimate Frisbee, she used the chance to sprint to the next. “Wow, can’t believe I’m doing this! So far so good!-”

“Look. That woman is naked!” a voice called out, the words ringing in Amaya’s ears like a jackhammer.

“Oh no…” Amaya looked behind, her worst fears confirmed. It was too much to ask for a miracle, wasn’t it?

Slowly, heads began to turn towards her. A boy pointed at her, his friends staring aghast at her bouncing tits. A brunette cusped her hands around her mouth in secondhand shame. A muscular man smiled and gave her a thumbs up while an octogenarian couple shook their heads in disgust.

“Nice tits!”

“Honey? Her eyes are up there!”

“Her ass could use a bit of exercise thought, a bit too flabby for my taste.”

“Are you seriously complaining that her ass bounces too much, dude?”

“Colleges really are corrupting the youth. In my day you would have received fifty canes for showing even your knee.”

“Hey, that girl seems familiar. Doesn’t she go to Philosophy class?”

“Girl, I’m pretty sure you are the only student enrolled in philosophy this side of the country.”

Amaya wanted to scream at the people like a banshee and tell them to look anywhere else. However, words failed her. Her lungs were more busy pumping oxygen into her legs. She moved into overdrive, running as fast as… well, as fast as she ran the last time a similar incident happened to her.

There was no point in moving from tree to tree anymore. Amaya made a beeline to the closest exit from the glade. She jumped across a thick bush, pushing leaves and breaking branches with little regard for her safety. Anything to get her away from the wall of eyes…

“Curse you Mother Nature! I know that was your fault! I’m not going to recycle my trash this week!” Amaya yelled at her newfound paranormal enemy. Her legs kept moving, stopping only when her burning ears could no longer hear the whistles directed at her bouncing behind.
