Chapter 140 by brevdravis brevdravis

Did she EVER love me?

Always.

"Yes..." She breathed against my lips. "Always. That's why. I want you so much for my own, but if you don't choose me, I will at least have our baby to remember... such good times."

The tears were continuing to flow.

"I Love you, Kaila." I confessed, wishing that this was a dream. A horrible, horrible dream. With incredible hot sex... and pain. So much pain.

"I love you too... Brent." Her lips turned upward, despite the tears. It felt almost like she was holding something back. Something she wanted to tell me, but couldn't. "Just... don't..."

Her hand came to stroke at my cheek, and I found myself lost with her eyes. Memories of so much that we had shared, so much that we had dreamed of. So much love...

...and found myself staring at a small billboard on the interior wall of a small building. The NBC peacock prominently was featured on the board as I heard a grinding from the small ATM I was standing at. The sound of the printer spewing a receipt brought me out of my reverie, and I scanned over the document. Joint account, cash deposited. Kaila had done a wonderful job of maintaining our account. I fired off a quick text to her, letting her know that the money was set. No response. I figured she and Charlotte were up to their usual antics. I smiled at the thought of my wife kissing Charlotte... and for an instant felt incredibly sad.

The moment passed quickly, and I turned to look around the interior of the small market where Helen and I had been shopping. I had a full basket. Bread, Butter, Milk, Eggs, Flour, Brown sugar, Sugar, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, and a container of oats with a guy in a hat. I couldn't really remember off the top of my head if it was powder or soda I needed for pancakes, so I figured grabbing both would be best. The oatmeal had been a minor thought for tomorrow. The last thing we were going to want to do on our last day was a lot of dishes, so it would probably be best to go with easy and filling. I was actually looking forward to making brunch when we got back. It would be a nice change from the chill and moist fog.

"Hey, You want a coffee?" I heard Helen's voice from the small coffee station. She waved a small styrofoam cup in my direction. It was probably a good idea, I was practically falling asleep on my feet.

Coffee and some quick shopping.
