Alternative Tipper

Vanessa had just about moved on from the Body Type Registry exam and everything that came with it when she heard something fall on the inside of her door. Going over, she saw envelopes addressed to her from the Body Type Registry. Vanessa was hesitant to open it, worried about what she would find inside. Yet, her fear of what might happen should she ignore the letter won out, so she brought it back to her kitchen before opening it. Inside the envelope was another letter, which read:

Dear Vanessa,

We are happy to inform you that you qualify for a new program, know as Alternative Tippers. Alternative Tippers are given discounts on food and beverages from partnered businesses. The stipulation is the tipper will provide an alternative tip for the received services in replacement of a monetary tip. This is just a test run, but we hope to expand this program further. If you are interested in joining our Alternative Tippers program, please sign the following document and mail it back to the listed address.

The Body Type Registry

Vanessa read the letter with fascination. She didn’t know what would happen from the Body Type Registry but she definitely didn’t expect something like this. Being able to get discounts of food and no longer needed to pay money for tips. This sounded too good to be true. She quickly flipped to the document that was just a bunch of legal nonsense. Vanessa skimmed the text, seeing something about how if she benefits from the Alt Tipper program she must follow through with the request tip or face punishment, another thing about how to opt out, but most of it went over her head. She just signed her name on the bottom, packed it up, and mailed it back.

For the next couple days Vanessa waited anxiously to receive a letter back. She was starting to think she sent it to the wrong place, when finally she heard an envelope plop through her door. This envelope was much bigger than the previous one. Inside Vanessa saw another letter, as well as a metal bracelet. The letter read:

Dear Vanessa,

Thank you for joining the Alternative Tipper program! We are excited to see you put this to good use. Included is a bracelet. This signifies you as an Alternative Tipper, so it must be worn to ensure you receive your benefits. On the back is a list of partnered businesses. We once again want to thank you for your participation and support in making our community a better place to work!

Vanessa clicked the bracelet around her wrist. The metal wasn’t the most comfortable thing in the world but she was sure she would get used to it. Flipping to the other side, she was surprised to see dozens and dozens of participating businesses. She didn’t even know where to start.
