Alternate History

The Provinces of America were founded in 1777 a year after the **** of General George Washington at the battle of Long Island and the hanging of General Nathaniel Greene after the battle of Philadelphia.

King George wanting to bring the thirteen colonies into control by the crown issued decrees removing their ability to self govern and redraw the boundaries stripping the colonies of all powers. George Germain, leader of the British forces during the failed uprising became governor of the Newly formed Province of New England and ruled from New York City which would become the capital of the Dominion of America.

Many of the American rebels would flee into the western territories of New France adopting the french Plaçage as a common practice by taking on African slaves and native American women as wives or mistresses. This practice would later become common in the Southern Province of America which did trade with the French controlled New Orleans. In the north as British military forces grew colonial matchmaking became the norm with men paying for the passage of women from poor families to sail across the ocean for a dowry paid to their families.

These practices would become more common place after the capture of New Orleans by British forces in 1812 during the height of the Napoleonic wars and the following treaty of Louisiana granting all land from the Mississippi to the Rocky mountains to the British crown.

In 1867 The North America Act created the Dominion of America as self-governing entity within the British Empire.
