Time for Action?
Almost There.
"What can you tell us about them" you ask Dawn.
"It is a larger group then what I have been seeing traveling in this area. Fifty five slaves. Some walking, some locked up and sitting in a caged wagon. There are ten guards, and six slavers currently visible. There are two covered wagons that I can not see into as well" Dawn states.
"That's a lot more then we were planning on" Rene says walking with Jane over to you and Yvette.
"Yep. About five times more then I thought we'd find, and way more guards" you say thinking about what to do.
"How long until we can see them Dawn" Yvette asks.
"About one hour at their current rate of travel" Dawn answers.
"Definitely makes it more difficult" Jane states, and you nod your head. You take stock of what is available. Rene, Yvette, Jane, Copper, and yourself. Two sniper rifles, each of you has a battle rifle, and you are each carrying bladed weapons.
"Hmmm..." you think for a moment more "How are the guards arranged and slavers arranged" you ask Dawn.
"Five guards flank each side. The slavers are roaming around one side or the other" she replies. You take a deep breath still thinking.
"This will be a bit more risky then I wanted it to be, but here is what we will do" you start to explain your plan to them.
An hour later the caravan is directly in front of your hiding spot. You lay prone on the ground trying your best not to move. The armor thankfully worked well for camouflage by allowing you to attach branches to your back. Yvette and Jane lay similarly on the opposite side of the road. All they should see are a few small bushes on each side of the road. Copper and Rene waited in the large bushes you'd waited in before. When the fighting starts they would do their part. As you were all downwind of the caravan the putrid smell of human waste hit you, and it occurs to you that they aren't stopping for potty breaks which makes you angrier. When it was time you would give the order to start firing. The three of you at the road are tasked with taking out the guards, while Rene will take out slavers, and Copper will protect Rene just in case. You unfortunately didn't want him catching a stray bullet. Not when you would be unloading on the guards, and he wasn't happy about it, but he accepted his protection role eventually. It seemed like a good plan, and you had a huge advantage with your firearms, but you were still quite nervous about it.
You were not looking forward to when slavers started hiring more and more guards either, but right now ten guards was deadly enough. The caravan slowly crept closer and closer. You just wanted it to be over already, and you could feel your heart beating faster and faster. You remember this feeling when you'd ambushed Sean. You had successfully overwhelmed a much larger ****, but you felt more nervous this time somehow as the caravan plodded towards you. Maybe it was because fifty ****'s lives depended on you being successful. Your first major step towards building your free city. All you wanted to do right now was hug each of them and tell them they were now safe, and your hatred of the slavers started to build more and more as the caravan came. Fuck them for putting these people through this.
You could now see the poor souls chained to the wagons. They looked exhausted, but you knew just as well as they knew, that if they fell the caravan wasn't going to stop for them. They'd have to get back up, or they'd be dragged. You can almost feel the crack of a whip when a slaver whips one of the slaves, and you can hear the contempt in his voice as he yells at the **** to keep moving. As you've heard each time as they approached, another whip and angry yell sounds out on the other side of the wagons. As if triggered by the first crack of the whip. You never heard the slaves cry out though, and you felt the rage build even more inside of you. You knew the slaves were accustomed to getting whipped again if they did cry out. Like slimy tendrils you felt your demon of rage crawl to your ear.
"Kill them all" it whispered "Tie them to a tree and whip them until they are just a bloody hunk of meat. They don't deserve a quick ****. Mount their heads on pikes so everyone can see what happens to slavers. I know you want to...why not give in. They aren't human right? No human could treat other humans like this. It's only a little ****" the demon continues.
"No" you quietly whisper, and finally it is time to act.
Is the ambush successful?
