Who do we follow and why are they like this?
Alison and her candles
“Are you sure this candle is lavender?”, Alison said examining a green candle. Alison always loved scented candles, even more so from stores that aren’t apart of a conglomeration. Unfortunately, due to ‘big capitalism’ as she often put it Alison’s usual store went out of business forcing her to inspect the wears of unfamiliar stores.
“Of course darling!”, an old woman said behind a counter. “I made everyone of these candles myself. I may be old but I can still tell you every ingredient in any candle here if I wanted to. The color may be different from my usual ones but I guarantee you that’s lavender.”
Alison looked back at the candle in her hand carefully she uncorked it and took a big whiff of the candle. True to the old woman’s words the candle did smell like lavender, as well as something else something she didn’t recognize but made the candle smell even better. “Are there really no other lavender candles?”, she asked still unsure about the candle.
“Positive. A group of sorority sisters came in and bought up all the others. I don’t even wanna think about what they’re gonna use those for.”
“Ew don’t put that image in my head.”
“Buy that candle and I’ll stop.”
Alison contemplated the candle one last time. True the color was off but it did smell like lavender. “Alright I’ll take it.” Quickly, Alison paid for the candle and rushed off.
What does she need the candle for?
