Alder’s Containment & Extraction

While many companies deal with training and upgrading characters for the real world. One has the unique job of deploying themselves into the fictional one for extraction.

This often requires both a very delicate and a very firm hand, while some worlds have characters able to be dealt with by normal measures. Most requested worlds often have targets that easily outstrip even a trained soldier in full gear. Not to mention that keeping them restrained long enough for proper enslavement outside in the real world is another challenge in of itself.

As such, acquiring characters isn’t the old smash and grab like some people think. If the character is weak enough often an extraction team will ambush them during a moment of weakness or isolation. When they’re asleep, taking a shower, captured by some hero or villain. That sorta thing.

However, if the character happens to be some sort of demigod, mage capable of leveling a mountain, machine who can hack the web and trigger hundreds of nuclear weapons, or any number of things. Often a temporal anchor is used along with a Pata physical suppressor. The temporal anchor temporarily freezes time to allow for the extraction of the character without issue.

The Pata physical suppressor suppresses their powers, stopping them from being able to freely use their abilities without first destroyed the suppressor. An action quite difficult when they’re behind several feet of bullet proof glass and the character themselves is suffering from the hangover of a reality transferral.

After that, all that’s needed is the addition of a standard brain mod. Though the type used is often subject to what the customer demands.

One thing to note is that a two step extraction is quite rare nowadays, unless the property is new or indie there’s often a backlog of temporally frozen characters somewhere that just need to be unfrozen and modded for the customers pleasure.

One might ask how the timeline changes from character extraction and from the most part that depends. If the character wasn’t integral to the plot or had gone past their relevancy to the story than it doesn’t matter. The timeline would still stay the same, however, if the character was integral. Than the timeline would immediately collapse and reform, that character recreated for us to steal again.

This of course doesn’t fully apply with characters that come from timelines different to the main ‘canon’ one. Variants we call them. For those we have to wait till a timeline like there’s regrows again. Often longer the greater the distinction from the canon was. The longest ever recorded was seven months and that was where the entire cast was the same age even though their backstories should’ve said otherwise.
