"Yeesh. Let me guess, you don't like like me?" Emma's voice carried a tone of angry resignation. She sounds used to rejection? wondered Connor

"Different problem. I wasn't... things went kind of fast between us. And I do like you. A lot. So I'm not going to hide this. I'm already seeing someone."

Silence from the phone for a few seconds. Connor tried not to slam his head into the steering wheel. Well, this had all gone wrong already...

"Hello?" he tried.

"Listen to me," interrupted Jones, not shouting but raising his voice to cut her off, "I'm not trying to cheat.
