Aftermath

You came back to yourself a few moments and was at once overwhelmed by shame. It had been so easy to fall back into bad habits, and you were resolved to stay true to your wife. Lana lay on the towel, watching you curiously while you gathered up your clothes and hastily dressed.

“Lana…” you tried to find the words, felt conflicted. “This was it. This was the last time, ok? You know I have to choose my family.”

“Because you’re a father,” she replied, her tone strangely upbeat. “And father’s are loyal to their family, correct?”

You felt your cheeks flush with guilt. “Yes, and…I have to hold true to that. My wife needs me, and the kids need a complete family.”

“Family.” Lana cooed the word. Her strange and inhuman gaze drifted away from you and a light smile came over her face. “I agree with you Brad, family is very important.”

You weren’t sure what to make of that, but finished dressing and went to the door. You opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came to mind. It was awkward, but you just had to hope that everything would go back to normal and that Lana wouldn’t cause any further trouble.

After you left, Lana lay watching the door, her positron brain working to calculate how quickly the fetus inside of her could develop. It was a tricky process, and hadn’t been done outside a controlled, laboratory setting, but by her estimation the process could be shortened to perhaps a month without there being any negative effects to the child growing within. Watching her bare stomach, she focused on speeding up gestation and felt her toned stomach begin to inflate just the slightest…
