Afterglow taps into a force unique to this universe, known as the kinetic furnace. This allows her to shunt calories in the form of body fat into this dimension, where it undergoes an ultra-efficient form of the kreb cycle, with the energy being transferred back to her, allowing for super speeds.

A side effect of this is that Afterglow, rather than having the slim figure most speedsters in other universes has, is very curvy.
