After the hunter

"Wait!"

Jessica ran out of the bar after the hunter, almost tripping over herself as she did so. She saw the hunter readying himself for proceeding back down the alleyway from which he came, when he stopped and slightly turned his back towards her at her cry.

"Wait!" Jessica hurried herself towards to the beast-slayer, but stopped not five feet away from him. He still smelt of fresh blood, a sickly sweet smell. She did not wish to disappoint her aunt by imbibing on the blood herself, and so stood at a distance lest even the fumes sing to her.

"Wait..."

She knew not what to say. She had so many questions, but her tongue caught in her throat. She clenched the bottle tightly in one hand and the lighter in the other. She did not know where to begin.

"What is it girl?" His green eyes gleamed through the lamplight and darkness again.
