After the event of Punk Hazard (Law's misadventures)

Written by Kari via commission

Finally putting the events of Punk Hazard behind them, the Thousand Sunny now sailed smoothly through the calm, azure waters of the New World. Nami, her orange hair dancing in the breeze, had settled herself at the navigation desk. Checking her log pose from time to time, her sharp mind and deft fingers worked in harmony, ensuring the ship's precise path towards Dressrosa. From time to time she could ask the other crews to make adjustment on the main and steer the direction of the ship as she fine-tuned their course, occasionally glancing up at the azure horizon.

From his usual perch atop the mast, Luffy, the Straw Hat Pirates' fearless captain, lounged with an air of carefree anticipation. The wide brim of his iconic straw hat cast a playful shadow over his eyes. His legs dangled nonchalantly as he peered out across the endless ocean. A triumphant grin spread across his face as he couldn't contain his excitement any longer. "Dressrosa! Here we go! Woohoo! This is gonna be awesome!" he cheered exuberantly, thrusting both of his arms into the air in a spontaneous display of enthusiasm, his jubilance echoed across the deck of Thousand Sunny.

However, amid the crew's infectious excitement, Nami couldn't help but voice her concerns. She let out a sigh and, burying her face in her palms muttered under her breath, "We've really gotten ourselves into a mess this time..." Her eyes darted back to her navigation charts, her fingers tracing the precarious route they had chosen. Nami knew all too well the gravity of their situation. Declaring war on Doflamingo, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, was no small matter. Moreover, they had kidnapped Caesar Clown, a scientist with ties to Doflamingo, and were about to challenge Kaidou, one of the Four Emperors of the Sea by destroying his SMILE factory. The prospect of facing such formidable opponents made her heart race and cold sweats run down her body.

Zoro, who had been idly napping on the deck as he enjoyed the warmth of the sun, scoffed at the navigator’s concerns. He glanced over at her, his cool demeanor unwavering. "Nami, don't sweat too much about it. We've taken down Warlords before. Luffy's fought two of 'em and won. Remember Crocodile and Moria? Back then we thought we won’t be able to defeat them too, but we did. Doflamingo won't be any different."

Law, who had overheard their conversation, joined in with a more somber tone. "Zoro-Ya, you might have been right about Doflamingo, but Kaidou is a different beast altogether. There’s a reason he’s been an Emperor for many decades, his domination unchallenged. We’d meet our doom soon if we underestimate him."

“Shishishi! I know he’s strong, but that makes me want to challenge him ever more!” Luffy, who had been listening with mild interest to the conversation from his post on the mast, suddenly chimed in. "Tora-ya, don't worry about it too much! All enemies are the same. We just have to defeat them!"

Law couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at Luffy's apparent simplicity. "How do you plan to defeat them, Mugiwara-ya?" he inquired, a hint of curiosity mixed with skepticism was apparent in his voice.

“Shishishi!” Luffy laughed once again, then came his response, which was as straightforward as ever. "Easy! Just march right up to their front door and beat 'em!"

“You idiot!” Nami, unable to contain her frustration – had let her fists speak instead of her words, and pummelled Luffy, knocking him straight. Shaking a now knocked-out Luffy in her hands, she continued, “That's not a plan! That's just recklessness! You can't just barge into the territory of an Emperor or a Warlord with no plan!"

“Thought we’ve always done that,” said Zoro, and the navigator turned to him so fast, her fangs almost bared as she shouted, “THAT DOESN’T MAKE IT RIGHT!!”

“Yeah! Shishishi!!” Luffy laughed again, much to Nami’s frustration. "Who needs plans? We'll figure it out when we get there! That's how we always do things."

Amidst the lively exchange of opinions, the cool breeze continued to embrace the Thousand Sunny as it sailed through the vast expanse of the New World. Nami, still exasperated from her earlier outburst, sighed deeply as she watched Luffy, who remained sprawled on the deck, groggily getting back on his feet.

As if on cue, Brook, the skeletal musician of the crew, gracefully glided towards the center of the deck, his violin in hand. He began to play a merry tune, and his signature "Yo-Ho-Ho" filled the air. The melodious notes swirled around the ship like a gentle sea breeze, casting a spell of serenity over the crew. With his ethereal music filling the atmosphere, Brook, ever the embodiment of cheerfulness, spoke up. "Yo-Ho-Ho! Now that the battle is behind us, it's time for everyone to relax and enjoy some music!" His bony fingers danced elegantly over the strings, weaving a tune that resonated with the crew's spirits.

Nico Robin, her raven hair cascading gracefully over her shoulders, sat with an air of sophistication, her eyes half-closed in serene enjoyment. She watched Brook with a gentle smile, her expression reflecting both appreciation for the music and the rare moments of tranquility amidst their adventures. As Brook continued to serenade the crew with his enchanting music, the soothing atmosphere wrapped around the Thousand Sunny like a comforting embrace. Nico Robin, her elegant demeanor unwavering, couldn't help but express her admiration for the musician's talents. With a soft chuckle, she remarked, "Brook, your music truly has a way of bringing solace to our adventures. It's a wonderful gift."

Brook, always quick with a witty response, grinned wide beneath his skull. "Yohoho! Thank you, my dear Robin. You're making me blush!" He paused for a comedic beat before bursting into laughter. “Ah, but how could I forget? I’m all bones now so I can’t blush! Yohoho!” Robin, her own chuckle tinged with amusement, laughed along with Brook's humor.

As the music continued to fill the air, a sudden shift in the light caught Robin's attention. She looked up and realized that a shadow was cast upon her. With a graceful turn of her head, she found herself face to face with Sanji, the crew's chivalrous cook and resident ladies' man. His trademark suit and sleek hairstyle exuded an air of charm as he held out a hand and asked in his ever-polite manner, "Might I have this dance with you, Robin-chan?" Robin's expression softened, and her eyes sparkled with appreciation. "Oh my," she replied, "Of course, I would be honored to, Sanji-san." She accepted his hand, and as they began to sway to the music, the rest of the crew couldn't help but smile at the merry dance unfolding on the deck of the Thousand Sunny.

The lively melody played by Brook continued to resonate through the air, infusing the deck of the Thousand Sunny with an atmosphere of cheerful camaraderie. Robin and Sanji twirled effortlessly in time with the music. Their steps were fluid, and their laughters genuine, as they moved in harmony with Brook's tunes. The crew members one by one started to join Robin and Sanji in the fun. Wrapped in the aura of relaxation brought on by the music, they couldn't help but be drawn into the merriment. Usopp, who had been tinkering with Franky just a while back, couldn't resist the allure of the dance. He abandoned his tinkering and inventions and joined Robin and Sanji on the deck, his hesitant movements gradually growing more confident as he found his rhythm.

Franky the cyborg, the crew's boisterous shipwright with a penchant for building and breaking things, followed Usopp’s lead, set down his tools and let out a hearty laugh. His mechanical arms swung to the beat, and with a charismatic grin, he joined the impromptu dance with enthusiasm, shaking his ass like there was no tomorrow.

The crew members who were not dancing were equally affected by the festive atmosphere. Their faces lit up with smiles as they watched their friends revel in the simple pleasure of the moment. Nami, who had earlier been preoccupied with her worries about the upcoming battles, finally sighed and began to relax, tapping her foot in time with the music. Zoro appeared to be still napping for his eyes were closed, but as he leaned back against the ship's railing, his face portrated a sense of contentment.

However, amid the joyous celebration, one member of the crew stood out as an exception to the newfound relaxation. Trafalgar Law observed the scene with a mixture of bemusement and frustration. He had never encountered a crew quite like Luffy's, where moments of carefree revelry could follow immediately after discussions of life-threatening battles. Feeling out of place amidst the spontaneous dance, Law quietly slipped away from the deck in search of a quiet corner where he could sulk in solitude. He didn’t dance and didn’t want to be involved in their merriment when there were much important He couldn't fathom how the Straw Hat Pirates managed to remain so relaxed in the face of the challenges that lay ahead. His thoughts turned to the impending clash with Doflamingo and Kaido, and a heavy weight settled upon his shoulders. Little did the Straw Hat know they're new ally will cause some chaos.
