Chapter 12
by Wraithne
Where do you hunt?
Africa but first gotta get stuff done.
Even with your blood lust running rampant, you knew that attacking Rome would be a terrible idea. Still, you knew of a less stable area. Africa, with the spread of Christian and Muslim faiths, would be easy to start conflicts up again in rather than just slaughter the remaining people. The problem was that it would be a waste of life. While, traditionally, Norse men and women were white, you saw no reason to continue that. At the same time, you needed a steady grouping of every ethnic group. Your intellect insured you knew this. When one ethnic group had greater numbers than another, it always led to conflict.
Taking the time needed, you dragged the godling back to your tent, put him to bed and started thinking. There were ways to make up for the loss of life and to retrieve people at the same time. Cloning. Simple as that. Collect a mass amount of DNA and clone all the good samples from around the world. Actually, it occurred to you that there is one person that could really help you out. Sure, you might have to give him something in return, but, shit, it might be worth it. If you had to, you'd marry off one of your half sisters to him, giving him "royal" status and your country's protection. Sure, you might have to mind control your sister some what to get her into him or kill her current husband, but you had to get the stuff done. Actually, you weren't a fan of her husband as it was. You suspected he was abusive towards your sister, but never had proof. You wouldn't be a kin slayer without evidence, but getting your mind back on track. You heard Dietrich's father, Doctor Havok, passed away and you figured the guy could use a friend or ally. Or, even better, one that can call his father's soul back from the dead now and then.
Giving the guy a call on a secure line, you waited for an answer. Close to the third ring, he answered, looking well flushed if you had to guess. His hair and clothing were a mess and he had an after glow to him. Guess he got comfort after all but it was funny seeing the surprise on his face that it was you who called him since, well, last time you two didn't end on good terms.
"Dietrich, how are you doing?" You decided to be gentle at first. Sure, both your parents were alive, but you knew **** hurt the living so you'd be kind first.
"I'm fine, Hans. What do you want?" He didn't seem angry toward you, just curious. You had to admit, he always seemed soft in the heart, which wasn't a bad thing, He just wasn't, in your opinion, cut out for this life and should live a normal life with a family. Granted, his atheism was annoying at times, but, hey, his choice.
"Well, firstly, to make sure you're okay. I heard about your father's **** and I apologize for not checking on you sooner." He waited for you to continue so you did. "Secondly, I have an offer for you. A job, really. I need a head scientist and doctor for my hospital out here, along with some cloning technology for my long term planning. In exchange, you can do all the studying you want, experiments, or whatever that isn't harmful to the people. You can have a normal-ish life here." You waited for his response, really he wasn't hard to read he seemed shocked at your offer.
What is Dietrich's answer?
