Aeshdan, Lord of the Sun

Aeshdan is foremost the spirit of the Sun, and as such his chief dominion is over the elements of fire and light. He is the archetypal masculine deity, forceful and direct. He is a patron of rulers and soldiers, and smiths and metalworkers enjoy his special favor. He is likewise the presiding deity of male virility, in counterpoint to Yamalan's dominion over female fertility. While it is Yamalan who brings forth plants from the earth, Aeshdan's sun is required to give them life, and so farmers pray to both alike. The metals gold and copper are especially sacred to him.

While Aeshdan is worshipped all around the Central Sea, he has always shown special favor to the Doramin Empire, blessing them with the sangreal and with other favors. They in turn pay him special respect, granting him greater worship and praise than his divine brethren. Some speculate that this is because they dwell in the westernmost parts of the land around the Central Sea, closest to the dawn. Others say that it is mere coincidence, that Arthur Bonaesh happened to dwell in the western lands and the Empire has benefited from him happening to win the favor of the Sun Lord.

Aeshdan is usually depicted as a man in the prime of life, usually clad in armor and carrying a cruciform sword. His skin and armor are often shown as the same shade of luminous gold, with his hair usually portrayed as the burnished-copper of his sangreal.
