Adjusting Eunice

Zeke hastily got himself tidied up and instructed Niamh to get out of sight. Without being told to, she knelt on the ground in the corner of the room. Zeke made the call.

"Hey Sis!", he greeted putting on an air of friendliness and general lack of chaos that he hoped would win her over.

"Save it shithead. You had forgotten again hadn't you!?" She looked pissed. To be fair that seemed to be her standard expression when she talked to Zeke. Hell, for all he knew, she might go through life in a rage at everyone. He looked at her thoughts in the bubbles beside her head on the screen and winced. Ouch! some of those were a bit near the truth. Instinctively, he wiped his finger over them, blanking her thoughts and she suddenly froze. Shit! he had wiped his sister. He had to give her something - he couldn't leave her sitting wherever she was staring into space. He quickly wrote "I'll be happy to do whatever Zeke wants". That ought to do it, thought Zeke, figuring that would get him off the hook with this gift for mom thing and anything else that she was pissed about.

Her expression changed suddenly and she actually smiled at the camera. "So, are you still ok to come out to lunch or would you rather stop at my place. I haven't left yet, so I'm happy to go with whatever you want."

Wow, thought Zeke, Eunice never invited him to her place. Her partner didn't exactly approve of him. And, he considered, the restaurant might be expensive and she would usually expect him to go half. What the hell. "Yeah, ok, I'll swing by yours then".

"Ok, see you then. Looking forward to it!" said Eunice and waved at him before hanging up.

She was like a different person. Zeke could not remember having ever seen her smile before. Shit! What had he done? It couldn't be that bad could it?

He looked at Niamh, newly fucked and kneeling obediently in the corner. Niamh, who two days earlier would have been delighted to see him fired and had nothing to say to him. and thought again about his sister,
