Chapter 9

Where does the hunter take Jessica?
Across Central Yharnam
Glowing windows, creeping alleys, and disappearing phantasms streaked by as the hunter led Jessica on. She was running at her full speed, barely able to keep herself from tripping over her own dress as they ran on. The hunter was in a steady jog with which he **** her to keep up, his grip tight on her arm like a vice. He slowed only once every while, giving himself time to check the darker corners before moving past them or through them.
The winding alleys, the snaking smoke from the lamps, the eerie fog. Jessica's eyes at once saw so much, yet could never focus on what they passed by. More than once, she thought she heard a low growl or a yelp from the shadows. More than once, her hands were wound tight, clutching the whiskey and lighter close to her. The rag sticking out of the top of the bottle seemed to be damp, but held the sloshing **** inside as they ran. The only constants in the ever changing landscape was that she knew not where they were or where they were heading, and that the hunter seemed sure of himself and his way.
Quite suddenly, as they kept running, the buildings around them fell away and they came to a small viewpoint at the edge of a great chasm, where down below Old Yharnam lay sleeping. The hunter stopped abruptly near the edge, causing Jessica to push into him a little bit and for him to hold her back.
The view was stunning. The Great Bridge spanned the chasm, connecting Central Yharnam up unto the Cathedral Ward. A pale moon sat high above the city, illuminating in a silver light the city edges around this great space. In the distance, Jessica started as she noticed what she thought was Yvon's Bridge. She could make out something large moving along it, and figured it to be one of the church giants out patrolling tonight. If the giants were out, then she knew this night must be bad. Had she not met this hunter, she might not have even been able to take her regular route across the bridge to get home.
Home. Her aunt. Her aunt was sick and still home alone!
Fright and awe were replaced with worry and doubt, as Jessica could think of little else but how her aunt must be tonight. How she would barely have the strength to lift herself from the bed and fetch water.
The hunter raised his free arm, finger outstretched, and pointed towards a large, but nondescript building below.
"That's where we're heading. The clinic is the place to begin with you."
Does Jessica continue to follow?
