Ace of Diamonds.*

“Damn it!” Monika thinks to herself, angered that she will now most likely lose the wager. Defeat is bad enough, but walking off Orterres' boat without the pass after getting literally fucked over by the gangster is truly galling. Using all her will to keep her hand from shaking Monika draws her card. Looking at it she grins from ear to ear.

“Ace of Diamonds.” She proudly announces.

“Fucking lucky cunt!” Orterres pounds the table in anger while standing up in disbelief.

“Sorry, Khan.” Monika playfully sways her feet back and forth while she remains seated on his desk. “Better luck next time.”

While the gangster clenches his fists in rage and the punches the wall, the busty bounty hunter just watches the display of testosterone, knowing that Orterres will honor his word. With the wall chastised, the gangster opens a floor safe and produces a forged metal medallion with the noble seal of the Grand Vizier of Irylian on it and tosses it at Monika.

“Take the pass, witch.” Orterres hisses, “And for the last time, get the hell off my boat!”

Snatching the medallion in midair Monika then pops off his desk and heads for the door while Orterress crashes back down into his chair. The red haired adventuress, however, pauses just as she is about leave. Looking over her shoulder Monika says in a normal voice. “This has really been a big help Khan, thank you. If the score goes right, I promise I will return and pay you the 2,000 gold.”

“Carmesí when you return.” Khan answers in a reserved manner. “Then we'll play again, double or nothing, and when I finally win I'm going to pound the fuck out of you.”

“It's a date.” Monika grins and leaves the boat.
