"How long have your wings been shedding luster?" Alex asks you as one of his arms moves up to touch the rim of your wing. "Shedding what?" you ask, a bit confused,
"Luster - the glowing dust. Hasn't anyone told you about it yet?"
"No..."
"Not even your dad?"
"My father was the village priest, he believed that young fairies shouldn't be told anything sexual until they needed to know about it."
Alex was silent for a moment. His hand still touching your wing, causing it to flutter slightly. "Well I guess you should know now." He moves his head away from you a bit and brings his arm down on your shoulder. "Luster is the glowing dust fairies release when they have accepted a mate." He rubs the back of your shoulder close to the root of your wings and brings his hand up close to your face so you can see the golden, slightly greenish and still shimmering dust coating the tips of his fingers.
"Usually this only happens in private after the fairy has consented to sleep with his partner. It's part of the highly intimate mating ritual that your species is famous for. Normally you should only be able to produce luster once or twice a week, and then only when you are in a state of heightened sexual arousal, caused by your partner. But by the looks of the luster deposits on your shoulder, you've produced it several times today."
At this point you're confused and interject, "That... but... wait... I've been able to do it at will for years, ever since I got my frost magic at 16."
Alex looks genuinely surprised by this revelation. After staring at you for a good long while he says, "Well, it looks like we have a genuine medical miracle on our hands."
