Chapter 4 by FredWeasleyLives1 FredWeasleyLives1

Do I still have all my friends?

Abbie mends bridges

Abbie's POV:

My name is Abbie and I am an aspiring artist with frizzy black hair. I am sitting next to my friend Kaitlyn Lao who is swishing her spoon around in her bowl of Fruit Loops instead of eating it. Because of the riot that happened at her concert, she had a huge fight with her girlfriend Portia Diamond who is another one of my best friends. I can tell that my brunette friend who is wearing a rocker outfit is sad because of the empty chair on the right side of her. Because of this fight and others like it, I am surprised that two completely different people like them are still dating. Some people think that opposites attract, but I don't believe it.

I must say that I am a little worried about Portia myself. I have not seen her since we all had to bolt out of Kaitlyn's concert and got seperated. I am afraid that something might have happened to my redheaded friend since she has been missing all night. It is not like her to go off by herself and not tell anyone. I care deeply for Portia because her will is most of what holds our group together. I start talking to my female friend so I can distract myself from my own problems.

"What's wrong,Kaitlyn?"

"I did something stupid to Portia last night!" the rocker whined.

"So you don't really blame her for the riot?" Chris growled.

"Of course not!" Kaitlyn spat.

"You know what you've got to do!" my boyfriend Tyler insisted.

"Yeah," Kaitlyn sighed. "I just wish that she would show up so I can apologize. I am worried about her. She has never been gone this long! I just..."

A woman with a mane of fire finally showed up and cut Kaitlyn off. Kaitlyn was happy to see her, but a cold shiver ran down my back. For one thing, Portia was wearing the same clothes that she was wearing yesterday. For another thing, I can tell that my friend had been crying since her eyes are all red. Sometimes you can just sense when things are going to go wrong.

"Portia, please forgive me for what I did at the concert," Kaitlyn pleaded.

"I forgive you," Portia accepted.

Kaitlyn was happy because Portia forgave her, but I wasn't. Everyone else in the room could still feel the chill in the air. My brunette pal was too busy focusing on her own needs to worry about her girlfriend's needs. I wasn't too surprised when Portia turned Kaitlyn down when she tried to kiss her.

"Don't you want to kiss me?" Kaitlyn pleaded.

"What I want is to talk to you outside," Portia lightly insisted.

Everybody watched in stunned silence the two lovebirds leave the dorm as we waited for the other shoe to drop.

"It's the end of an era," Chris murmured with sad eyes.

"You seem sure about that," Zack prodded.

"I know what it means when a girl asks you to talk outside," Chris explained. "It's happened to me before."

Even though I knew my athletic friend was right, I silently prayed that he was wrong. I knew that my prayers were not going to be answered when Kaitlyn ran back inside with tears streaming out of eyes. The next thing that I knew, my weeping friend threw her arms around me. The only thing that I could do was wrap my arms around Kaitlyn and squeeze.

"There, there. It's okay. I'm here. Come up to my room with me and I will share some bon bons with you."

"I'll go check on Portia," Chris declared while walking outside to try to clean up the damage.

I guided poor Kaitlyn up the stairs with my right arm wrapped around her back and left hand holding onto the railing. I let my friend into my room and set the rocker on my bed. I walked around my painter's easel to get a box of tissues for my weeping pal. I opened the middle drawer of my oak dresser so I could take out my box of emergency candy. I can't think of many situations that are a bigger emergency than a break up so I put the open box of bon bons next to my friend and gave her a hug. We sat like that for ten minutes depleting my candy supply until Kaitlyn said something that shocked every fiber of my being.

"I HATE PORTIA!"

I was about to tell off my heart broken friend when I heard a loud noise coming from the hallway. It could only have been the sound of the loudest door slam ever coming from the direction of Portia's room. There was no doubt about it. Portia heard what Kaitlyn had said. I could just picture her sobbing on her pillow. I broke up the hug so I could tower over the person I was the most mad with at the moment.

"Why did you say that?" I shrilly demanded.

"Because I do hate her!"

"If you really hated her then I don't think you would be this upset over the break up," I pointed out and then I paused to let what I said sink in. "Do you really hate Portia?"

"No!" Kaitlyn croaked.

"If you wanted to hurt your best friend than you couldn't have done a better job! Did you want to hurt her?"

"No!" Kaitlyn wheezed while blowing her nose and drying her eyes with a couple of tissues. "It's just that this break up came out of the blue."

"Did it really?" I debated. "You two have had several setbacks. What about the time you drank yourself into a coma? What about the time your parents found out about your relationship with Portia? What about all the horror movies you watch. You know Portia doesn't like those. Portia went passed the breaking point. Face it. You two are too different."

"You are right," Kaitlyn agreed.

"I think that you should take the rest of this candy and go apologize!" I commanded while pointing at my door.

"Thanks," Kaitlyn wheezed as I watched her take the box of candy and leave.

How does Portia feel about the break up?
