AN Day 10 - Target Midfield

Their defense is strong and their midfield is weak... it's an easy choice. You call a timeout and make a new plan: focus on possession and getting the ball to Aki, who's your best shooter. Their defense isn't perfect... if you keep shooting, you'll get goals. Meanwhile, if you control the midfield their strong offense won't be able to get anything going.

You put the plan into action. Green Team figures it out and adapts, but not before Aki scores a goal, and you score one as well with a spectacular shot that is probably one of your best.

You're up by one, and Green Team is pissed. The game is rough, but they're too upset to play well. Aki scores again, and you win the game comfortably. It wasn't enough of a blowout to be boring, but Aki's sniper goal and your awesome one made for some great highlights.

FUTA is delighted. The game ends, and they rush you off the field for photos and for a triumphant interview with the winning captain. You and your team are too worn out to pose, but you deal with the photos.

Then they're sitting you down in the announcers' tent for your interview while the rest of your team is herded onto the winners' bus. Your game went on the longest... the other games are already over. FUTA is in a hurry to get everyone away from the camp: the winners to the Lodge, and the losers to wherever they're going.

They have work to do over the weekend on this place... obviously, and they don't want players around when they do it.

Lulu and Moxxi are in your face. Annette and the producers are there, and lots of other people. They bombard you with questions about the game.

You give all the credit to your team and explain when they ask what your thoughts were about the Green Midfield. You still compliment Green Team. They didn't play badly, but their lack of soccer experience ended up biting them.

"So, what are you going to do to celebrate?" Moxxi asks you excitedly.

You blush. "Well, I think I'll call a certain lady. See if she wants to celebrate with me," you say.

"Oh, wait." Annette reaches out and turns off the camera. "Is it Ana, Riley?"

"How'd you know?" you ask, shocked.

Annette looks sympathetic. "Riley, we had some injuries today. Ana's going to be busy all night."

Moxxi's giving you a... pretty funny look. "Ooooh," she says, fluttering her eyelashes. "Ana, huh? So the captain's into older women." Did she not know that? You did hook up with her last night, but you were both pretty drunk... maybe she doesn't remember any more than you do.

You ignore that, but your disappointment shows... you really were hoping to see Ana tonight.

"Hey, but..." Annette puts her hand on your shoulder. "We were going to have some drinks tonight, though. Why don't you celebrate with us instead?"

"Yeah," Moxxi says. "That's a good idea."

"I thought I was supposed to go to the Lodge," you say.

"We'll get you there," Annette promises.

"OK," you agree. A drink sounds good...
