Chapter 12 by TheFallacyGuy TheFallacyGuy

What will happen next? Also, sorry that this one was pretty sad :-(

A week pass. It's fun to have them around.

With a lot of the painful questions asked and answered, a new found trust and dependency can be found. A relaxed carefree nature sweeps in to take over the emotional uproar that has plagued the apartment for the last eighteen hours or so.
Vanessa's emotional retelling of her past happened on a Wednesday. It's now Tuesday.

It's evening. It's quiet. The only light that shines in the apartment is the light of the main menu of Netflix. You can feel Olivia's head pressed into your lap, and Vanessa's head pressed into your shoulder. Both of them are asleep. They'd fallen asleep to a movie, you were watching. The movie had ended, but you feel really comfortable and secure with the two sister's pressed close to you.

You recall your past week.

The rest of Wednesday:

After Vanessa had calmed down from crying, you offered that you and her could go shopping. If the two sister's were to leave your apartment at some point, you wouldn't feel right about them not having a proper clothes to wear to combat the cold weather.
Vee kept insisting to get them the cheaper clothes, telling you that you have already done so much for them, but you countered that the more expensive jackets were warmer and would last longer. You also got them their own toothbrushes, because sharing yours would get gross in the long run. You also got some more basic supplies... food, make-up, toilet paper, that kind of stuff.
Olivia asked if you didn't have a job you needed to keep. You told her that you worked from home, and since you were ahead of schedule anyway, you didn't mind taking today off. Vanessa remarked that you were probably the only person she's ever met that was actually ahead of their work schedule. You told her you never really had any other responsibilities until today.
You made some sort of beef stew for dinner. It's good against the cold weather. Vanessa offered very forcefully to help you out with it. You told her that she didn't need to, but Vanessa wouldn't let it go, and you caved under and asked if she would chop vegetables. After the stew was set to simmer, Vanessa thanked you for letting her help, telling you that she feels good about being helpful even if it's just a small thing. She had tears in her eyes, but that might just be because she's been chopping onions. You give her a quick hug.
After the dinner, Vanessa took care of the dishes, and Olivia charmed you into watching a very weird documentary with her. Something about frogs in Australia, and the people who hate them.
Later all three of you watched a drama comedy film. "Birdman" you think it was called.

Thursday:

Vanessa got up early and asked you if you wanted to take a morning jog with her. You reluctantly agreed, and you both put on the warmest sporty clothing you could find. Vanessa was being very kind and patient, considering how much she had to stop to wait for your slow ass to catch up. You definitely wasn't as fit as her, and the two extra cup sizes you were carrying around certainly didn't make it easier. An hour later, and you're beat. You spend the most of the day working. It's not as fun as hanging out with the girls, but it needs to be done. Olivia got up for a bit, and having not interacted with a computer for a while she asked you all sorts of questions. How much RAM did it run? What GPU were you using? Did it have a dual- or a quad-core processor? And a bunch of other questions you did not know the answer to. You are a web designer not a computer... putting together... person. Talk about HTML or get disappointed.
After dinner you decided to play some Trivial Pursuit. You played a couple of rounds, but it got very quickly frustrating for you and Vee. Ollie was just way too good at it. She wiped the floor with you. At some point she had won before you had even gotten your second peg. Olivia was having a blast though, and seeing her happy, and not as sick, melted both Vee's and your heart.

Friday:

After another torturous jog with Vee, you noticed that Olivia looked a lot more springy than usual. You checked her fever. 101.4 degrees. It had subsided from a high fever to just a normal fever. You and Vanessa both agreed that she should still stay in bed, to Olivia dismay. She argued that she was an adult and she could make that decision herself, and that was certainly true, but after teasing her that if she stayed under like a good little girl, you would cut today's work off early and you could spend the afternoon playing video games. Olivia grumbled but eventually agreed. You spend most of your gaming session taking turns playing Psychonauts, which seemed to be right up Ollie's alley. After dinner you just kind of did your own thing. Ollie played some more video games, Vee did some yoga, you tried to get a bit of work done, but you got distracted by Vee's downward dog. Ollie looked at you and wiggled her eyebrows again, and you shot her a glare. Normal stuff at this point. Friday was the first day you really realize how easily you've gotten you used to having the sisters around you... and with how quickly Olivia is recovering, it might be over soon.

Saturday:

You told Olivia that while you and Vanessa were out jogging she could use your computer to go to the library's website for books she would like to read and you could go get them while out grocery shopping. Ollie nodded in excitement. After another long pummeling egregious morning jog you entered the apartment and you saw Ollie quickly closing down a tab which very much looked like two naked women going at it. Vanessa didn't see anything, but you did. You shot Ollie a sly grin, and her eyes widened and she put her finger to her lips to signal to not tell her sister. You nodded reassuringly. You got the books from the library, and while Ollie lied in bed reading about... kinetic molecular theory or something like that, you and Vanessa sat down and watched an artsy fartsy French art house film. You can't even remember its name. Vanessa said that she always loved art. You asked if she would like to visit the Chazen Art Museum at some point. She said she would love to, but she wanted Olivia to be there as well. You nodded understandingly. While watching the movie, Vee laid her head on your shoulder, and you swung your arm across her back and held her. Olivia saw this, and wouldn't stop teasing you during the dinner. You knowingly nodded your head towards the computer and Ollie quickly quieted down. Evening was spend almost exactly the same way as the day prior, except Ollie was reading instead of playing video games.

Sunday:

Vanessa asked you if you wanted to attend church with her. She admitted that she wasn't particularly religious but she liked the sentiment of love and people gathering up to talk about it. Plus it's always been a good place to seek shelter, even if it is just a couple of hours on Sundays. Ollie was quick to remind Vee that the church was filled with tons of misery, and some people attending that church would be very unhappy with the type of love you and Vee shared the evening you met. You quickly interjected that the same thing could be said about her browsing history, in which Ollie shut up instantly. You took Ollie's temperature again: 99.7 degrees.
Church was fine... mostly boring, but you knew it meant something for Vee. She thanked you for being with her. She held your hand in the snowy on the way home. It was quite a romantic scene.
At home, Olivia was playing more video games, and you played a bit of Spyro 3 with her, and it was fun.
You and Vee talked at length about movies over dinner with Ollie interjecting with a few quips every once in a while.
In the evening you read a book while Ollie and Vee was surfing the internet. Something they used to do a lot together before the tragedy.

Monday:

Urgh... Mondays. Another jog. More work. Laundry day. House cleaning. Vanessa insisted on helping, and normally you would fight it, and tell her that she shouldn't but you hate house cleaning, so it didn't take long for you to be convinced. Monday was pretty mundane for the most part, but even as dreadful as Mondays could be it just kind of solidified how delightfully ordinary having the sisters around had become. You wanted Monday to end off less boring though, so you had bought another board game called "Quantum". All three of you played it after dinner. It was kind of complicated, but pretty fun. It was also a strategy game, so Ollie was not too superior at it. She was still irritatingly good at it.

Tuesday:
The morning jogs had started to get easier. You're still nowhere the level of Vee, but you're getting better.
You took Ollie's temperature again. The display read 98.5 degrees. Her fever was gone.
You spend the afternoon working, and trying out a bit of yoga with Vanessa, but your boobs are flopping too much about for you to get it without some more basic training. Every once in a while you caught a stare from Ollie from the couch. Once she realized she had been found out, she dove her nose back into the science fiction novel she was reading.
After dinner the three of you decided to watch a movie, and it was Ollie's turn to pick. She chose some awful Schumacher flick, so of course Vee and her had fallen asleep before too long.

And here you are. The week had gone by so fast. A part of you want to just stay like this, with both girls laying against you, for the rest of time, but you know better. After feeling the comfort for a couple of more minutes, you gently rock them both awake, and after a some sleepy murmurs wishing each other a good night you all go to bed.

With Ollie's health back to normal you know that your time is almost up. And it is keeping you awake. You are not entirely sure if you have gotten any sleep during the night, but it doesn't feel like it, and as the morning sun arises and the alarm clocks ring waking up Vanessa and Olivia you know there is a decision to be made. A big one.

A fleeting moment... or do you risk it all for more?
