Chapter 8 by AttenTen AttenTen

What happens next?

A week goes by and another stranger appears.

Texas remained on high alert after her duel with Joe, expanding her patrol to the outskirts of Gold Springs in the hopes of catching her assassins as they attempted to enter the town. After giving April a brief recounting of the fight she had had, Texas had tasked her with looking after Joe during the sheriff's patrols. The deputy was resistant to the idea, taking issue with Joe's constant flirting and quips, but was swayed when Texas gave her permission to smack him upside the head whenever he took his taunting a step too far. For his part, Joe's had a very laissez faire attitude regarding his imprisonment, often taking time to indulge in small talk whenever the sheriff came around. Texas tried to press him for more information regarding Vivian's mercenaries but he would continuingly insist that his knowledge was limited to his own contract. Texas couldn't help think that he was keeping some details under wraps but she chalked that up nerves.

The lull in criminal activity put the sheriff even further on edge. She couldn't shake the feeling that it was calm before the storm and that things were slowly ramping up behind the scenes. It would certainly fit into Vivian's M.O. to play the long game. It wasn't enough to put a hit on the Texas's head, she had to put the sheriff on edge by needlessly drawing things out. Luckily (or unluckily) for her, she wouldn't have to wait very long to see some action. As she approached the edge of the town, she noticed something peculiar in the distance. From where she stood, it appeared to be a wagon turned to its side. Texas assumed that it was some unfortunate travelers who had encountered a bit of bad luck just as they were entering town. She rode towards them intending to provide aid but stopped upon spotting the two lumbering ox that were scavenging through the wagon. It didn't take a genius to put two and two together.

Texas's fist clenched tight against the reigns of her steed until her knuckles turned white. Her fight with Joe, while brief, had left her itching for more excitement and a week of inaction had only intensified that feeling. She gave the reigns a snap, causing her horse to go full speed ahead towards the wagon and the two brutes that loomed over it.

"What kind of dumb broad goes traveling without even a little bit of cash on em?!" one ox snapped as he kicked the dirt in frustration. He and his brother had decided to take advantage of the dip in criminal activity by robbing folks as they were leaving or entering town. It wasn't exactly the most elegant of plans, but neither brother had ever had much in the way of thinking power, typically being relegated to being hired muscle more noteworthy criminals. This had been the first of what they hoped to be many ambushes they didn't have much to show for it.

"Hey, look on the bright side. Least we gots us a new friend to play with" the other ox snorted as he reached into the wagon and pulled out a sheep woman by her arm. She was a sharp contrast the shoddily dressed thugs, her outfit was far more elegant and tidy, consisting of white Victorian hoop skirt, a large Georgiana hat, and gloves that went up to her elbows. Her outfit served to accentuate her voluptuous figure with the girdle drawing attention down to her impressive backside and the front of her dress cut expose the top of her hefty bosom. The most notable feature she had, however, was the just black wool that covered much of her body.

"Oh dear! Oh my! Won't someone please save me from these savage beasts?" the woman cried out, though her voice didn't quite carry the level of urgency or panic one would expect. The ox gave her arm a tug and grinned, practically drooling as he eyed her cleavage.

Before things could escalate any further, he was sent tumbling to the ground with a powerful flying kick courtesy of Texas Stanton. His brother's eyes widened with fear at the sight of Gold Spring's sheriff and he immediately turned to flee and abandon his sibling. He didn't get five steps before Texas pulled out her lasso and snagged his legs, sending him crashing to the dirt before she jumped onto him and went to town. The sheep woman watched in awe as the three were obscured by a cloud of dust, though she could distinctly hear the sounds of strikes being landed accompanied by pained yelps. When the dust cleared, she could see a slightly scuffed looking Texas standing atop the **** brothers, both of whom had been thoroughly beaten and hogtied.

"Sorry boys. Ah woulda gone easy on ya but its been a slow day" Texas said as she wiped the sweat from her forehead. She turned her attention to the stranger she had aided and nearly did a double take at their appearance. The the sea of attractive women the sheriff had seen in her life, this stranger certainly stood in a league all her own. Her eyes trailed along her body, drinking in the finer details of her form. What really caught her breath was the sheep's round, angelic face and bright blue eyes. It took her a moment to realize that she was staring and quickly put a stop to it as she gathered her senses and walked over.

"Are you alright? These bums didn't hurt you, did they?" she asked with concern.

"Oh, thank you kindly, ma'am!" the sheep said stepped forward and embraced Texas tightly. Texas's face reddened as she felt the stranger's breasts squishing against her own. The two of them were roughly the same height with sheriff standing a few inches taller but this woman's bust dwarfed her own by a large margin. "I was traversing through the desert all on my lonesome when these two hooligans jumped out and scared my horses off! I don't know what would've happened if ya'll hadn't arrived in the nick of time!"

"All in a day's work, miss..."

"Oh where are my manners?" the sheep said as she stepped back. "Maryanne Isabelle Claudette the Fourth, formally known as Lady Isabelle. The pleasure is mine"

Texas blinked as Isabelle held her hand out with her palm facing downward. Sharp as she was, certain customs were completely foreign to her and it showed it how she responded. Instead of taking her hand and kissing it, Texas grabbed hold of it and gave it a hardy shake.

"Sheriff Texas Stanton. Ah'm the law around these parts, so don't hesitate to give me a holler if'n ya need me." she said with a grin before turning her attention to the turned over wagon. "If you don't mind me askin, what's a delicate lookin' thing like you doin' round these parts? Gold Springs ain't exactly known to be friendly to outsiders"

"That's not what it said on the brochure!" Isabelle cried as she reached into her cleavage and pulled out a small pamphlet. Texas took his for her, though she had to take a moment to shake the sweat off before opening it up. As expected, a large majority of its contents consisted of lies and half-truths with the intention of selling the town as a bustling tourist spot full of friendly people. The most egregious lie was its citing of The Crushed Weasel as a must-visit establishment ran by "respectable business owner" and "pillar of the community", Annabelle.

'That's Vivian for ya' Texas thought to herself as she crumpled up the pamphlet and tossed it over her shoulder. "Yeah, no. Take it from me, this ain't the sorta place ya'll wanna be hanging around for long"

"Oh..." Isabelle said with a pout. "But... I came all this way looking to get my mind off of..." she said softly.

"Off'a what?" Texas asked curiously.

"O-oh, excuse me. I would be improper for me to burden you any more than I already have. I suppose I'll just... gather what's left of my belongings and head back home. It should only take me a week if I hurry"

"Now you don't gotta do all that" Texas said as she placed her hands on the sheep's shoulders. "Tell you what. How's we ride into town and look at the sights? Ain't no dirty varmint's gonna mess with ya so long as they see ah'm with ya" she offered.

"Oh, that sounds lovely!" Isabelle chirped as she jumped in place excitedly. Texas smiled, though it was a struggle for her to keep her eyes from moving downward as the sheep's bust threatened to spill out of her time with every jump. The two made their way to the sheriff's steed who had been grazing while their owner was handling her business. Texas leapt on but Isabelle hesitated do the same as she eyed the horse in confusion. Taking in a deep breath, she tried jumping onto its lower back, only to make it halfway with only a single leg and arm keeping her from falling back down.

"Something wrong?" Texas asked.

"Oh um... I... well, I've never ridden a horse before. At least not without a wagon or a cart. Would you be a dear and help me up?"

Texas blinked. How could anyone live in the west and NOT know how to ride a horse? She kept such thoughts to herself as she slid off and stepped behind Isabelle to help her up. The sheriff felt the heat building in her face as she placed her hands on the Isabelle's plump and cushiony backside and pushed. Isabelle didn't appear to mind in the slightest as her focus was on properly securing herself atop the steed. Eventually, Texas pushed her further enough to where she could wrap her other leg around the horse's hip.

"So this is what the back of a horse feels like. Goodness me, how exciting! I can't wait to tell momma about this!" she exclaimed before looking back at the panting weasel. "Thank you kindly, Miss Stanton. You really are a peach~"

"Just Texas... will do..." the weasel huffed before jumping back on and taking the reigns. She casted one last glance at the battered thugs, making a mental note to retrieve them before the day was over. As she rode back into town as felt Isabelle's arms wrapping around her waist, the sheep's large breast pressing against her back as she rested her head on the nape of Texas's neck.

"Mmm... my hero~" she cooed in content.

Texas said nothing as she continued onward, her grip tightening on the reigns and a lump forming in her throat. Just minutes ago she had fearlessly jumped at the chance to fight two men several times her size yet all it took to make her nervous was the touch of a beautiful woman. She did her best to keep her attention on the path ahead of her as she rode back into town.
