A visit from the local wildlife.

"Lieutenant!" I cried out, rushing to her with my wrist light.

The gleam of the fluid was still on her body as she leaned back against a tree. Her attention was elsewhere however, as she looked to the side. I tracked my light to her focal point and it was a short creature with a large head. It was hairless, about the size of a small dog and it licked the air with a long prehensile tongue. I drew my phaser just in case. The creature was pale, likely from the lack of light this deep in the jungle, it crawled on the ground with four legs like a gecko. It perked its head and licked the air again. Lieutenant Greene was frozen by the tree. The lizard approached her cautiously, occasionally licking the air again.

"It seemed to want something from me..." Greene said in a calm voice, never taking her eyes of the thing.

"Should I try and scare it off?" I asked as I raised my phaser at the creature. It did not seem aware of me yet.

"Not yet..." Greene replied even as the creature neared her foot.

I watched on as the creature warily edged its way to the lieutenant. She remained still and it licked the air once again, this time flicking at Lieutenant Greene's foot.

"Lieutenant?" I asked worriedly.

"It's alright... it just tickles a little..." she giggled as she let the creature feast.

The beast hungrily lapped up the plant fluid and to our surprise, the stuff was coming off!

"It must break down from this thing's saliva..." Greene mused before looking at her fluid covered hand. "I wonder..." Before I could say anything, she put her fore finger into her mouth and sucked on it. Her eyes widened a bit and she turned to me, "Not bad... kind of like a sap..."

I picked up the tricorder and set it back to scan mode before running a scan on the lieutenant. This seemed to scare the local creature as it scurried back into the jungle as soon as it heard the beeps. "It doesn't look like it's had any ill effects on you either... but I don't think we'll be able to lure your friend back here to finish the job..."

Greene smirked as she licked her arm, "That little guy would probably take all day to clean me off anyways... but..." She then looked to me with an intrigued grin. I suddenly felt my body flush up as I came to the same conclusion that she did.
