Chapter 31 by MickGesitt MickGesitt

What happens next?

A very different Miz TV

October 7th, 2019 - Bakersfield California - Monday Night Raw

“Quiet on the set… can we please have quiet on the set…

...AAAAWEEESOOOMEEE!”

The Miz’s music sounds through the arena a quarter of the way through the final hour of Raw and he walks out from the back dressed in a suit and sunglasses. He spins and poses on the stage then makes his way down to the ring for his interview segment.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the host of Miz TV… THE MIIIZZ!” The ring is decked out with a black mat and three ‘on set’ chairs.

“Let’s get this started,” Miz says after he claims his microphone from the ring announcer, “Welcome to the most must see talk show in history! Welcome to…” He pauses and the fans finish for him. “MIZ TV!” “...Miz TV. And last week was premiere week and it was huge for the WWE. All the celebrities came out to see the A Lister. Celebrities like: the Rock - who electrified like only he knows how, celebrities like: Cain Velasquez - who attacked the new WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, celebrities like: Tyson Fury - who went after Braun Strowman and trust me I can’t wait to see what he has to say later on tonight. But right now, right now I want to welcome my first guest. She is the Raw Women’s Champion! She is THE MAN! BECKY! LYNCH!”

Becky Lynch’s theme plays and the Man walks out from the back with all the swagger that came from being at the top of the WWE Women’s Division. Becky is wearing a leather jacket over her ring gear which tonight consists of a black singlet with dark mesh at the top and the bottom,, dark fishnet stockings, black knee pads, and black boots. She raises the Raw Women’s Championship up over her head and poses at the top of the ramp as steam and smoke spray out from the stage behind her. Becky makes it down the ramp and steps through the ropes into the ring and continues to show off the championship that she’s held since WrestleMania.

The Miz nods at Becky and motions her to an empty chair. The champ takes her seat and her music finally cuts. But that’s when the fans start chanting her name. "Becky! Becky! Becky!"

Becky lets the fans carry on for a bit before finally responding, “Hello, Bakersfield!” She receives a loud pop in response. And while some of the cheers that Carmella received earlier in the night were louder, there’s no denying that even a year after her meteoric rise to the top of the Women’s Division, ‘the Man’ is still the most over woman in the WWE.

“Welcome,” Miz says to Becky. “But we have one more guest to get to as well. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Smackdown Women’s Champion… BAYLEY!”

Bayley’s music plays and the colorful Bayley Buddies inflate up on the stage and start flailing their rubber arms around. Bayley walks out from the back with the Smackdown Women’s Championship over her shoulder. And even though she’s wearing the same blue and white top and tights and matching white boots from last night there’s something off about Bayley. For starters, her dark hair is no longer in her signature side ponytail and instead hangs loose down around her neck. There’s a sour expression on her face that would never fit on the woman that was previously affectionately referred to as ‘the Hugger’. She stops on the stage and regards the colorful assortment of inflatable tube men with clear disdain. Bayley mouths something that the microphone on the camera filming her doesn’t pick up. She shakes her head and marches down to the ring. There’s no theatrics or posing and it’s clear that something’s bugging Bayley.

The fans still don’t quite know what to make of Bayley. Her regular companion Sasha Banks is a clear and natural heel. Bayley’s current biggest crime is siding with her best friend so there’s still only a smattering of boos for the ‘not quite heel Bayley’ as she steps into the ring. Bayley locks eyes with Becky and taps her Smackdown Women’s Championship and doesn’t spare the fans a passing glance as she sits down in the chair across from her.

Bayley is handed a microphone and the Miz sits down in the remaining chair in between the two Women’s Champions. “Well, let’s get started. First and foremost, incredible wins by the both of you at Hell in a Cell last night. Becky, you defeated Sasha Banks in grueling match inside Hell in a Cell to retain your Raw Women’s Championship.” Becky smiles and pats the red brand title. “And what an incredible year it has been for you. And it feels like only yesterday we were on the set of The Marine 6: Close Quarters but since then you have main evented WrestleMania! You were on the cover of Muscle and Fitness and ESPN magazines. You were on the cover of WWE’s video game 2K20. And if anyone is looking for an amazing cereal, look at this face on the box of Golden Crisp cereal. Yummy!”

“Yeah, look, uh…” Becky starts to reply but trails off when the fans start to chant for her again. “Becky! Becky! Becky!”

The camera cuts to Bayley and shows her already sour expression turning even angier. She has the look of someone who is tired and fed up with her whole situation.

“Yeah, uh, accomplishments are great,” Becky says, “Makin’ history is great. Cereal is… great. But the fact of the matter is that last night Sasha Banks beat me all the way through hell and I’ve probably never been more banged up than I am today. But! But, if she was right here, right now in front of me, I’d remind her that last night she got her ass kicked by the Man!” The fans pop for Becky’s hard fought victory. “Bayley, how’s your buddy Sasha doin’? I’d guess black and bluer.”

Bayley glares at Becky, “I’m not here to talk about Sasha.”

“Oh, someone’s in a mood,” Becky notes, “What’s the matter, Hugger? Are you mad that no one’s commented on your new hair? Well, now I have. Happy? Let’s see that smile of yours.”

Becky’s comments only seem to make Bayley angrier. Miz can sense this and tries to keep his interview going. “And Bayley, you had a big win last night too. You defeated the nine-time champion, one of the best athletes of her generation, the Queen... Charlotte Flair.”

Bayley delivers another clipped response, “I’m not here to talk about Charlotte.”

Miz is getting visibly annoyed by Bayley’s lack of communication and prods her some more, “Well, some people would say you had a little help with that victory and that you wouldn’t have won if it wasn’t for that distraction by Carmella.”

Bayley grits her teeth and her voice gets even lower, “I’m not here… to talk about Carmella.”

“OKAY! Then what are you here to talk about!?” the Miz presses with clear frustration.

“Me,” Bayley answers simply. “You think I didn’t notice Carmella making a fool of herself as she ran naked passed the ring? I saw her. But unlike Charlotte, I focused on what was important… winning the match. Two women were in the ring. One got distracted. The other didn’t. What’s that tell you? That I’m BETTER than Charlotte Flair.”

“So you don’t think your win last night was a fluke?” the Miz asks knowing full well that he’s going to get a hostile response in return.

The Smackdown Women’s Champion openly glares at him. “Anyone who thinks that doesn’t know their history. I’ve made a career out of winning championships from Charlotte Flair.”

“Big deal,” Becky speaks up, “So you beat Charlotte Flair for a title. I’ve done that too. In fact, between you, me, Sasha, and Carmella… we account for all nine of Charlotte’s title loses. I think the real issue here is that, even with that Smackdown Women’s Championship, you’re still just playin’ the role of Sasha Banks’ sidekick.”

“Miz, I’m still waiting for my introduction,” Bayley says but then cuts Miz off when he attempts to speak. “No, don’t bother. I’ll do it myself. Because you people clearly need a refresher on who the hell I am.” Bayley leans forward and stares Becky in the eyes. “May nineteenth, Becky. Do you remember that night? It was Money in the Bank. You walked in as Becky 'Two Belts'… but you only left with one of them.” Bayley slaps the Smackdown Women’s Championship. “I left with this one after I cashed in the Money in the Bank and won it from Charlotte. And on that night, I became the first ever Triple Crown Women’s Champion. That means I’ve held the Smackdown Women’s Championship, the Raw Women’s Championship, and the Women’s Tag Team Championships. But that’s not all! I’m also the first AND ONLY Grand Slam Women’s Champion in history because I’ve also won the NXT Women’s Championship. The only available championship that I haven’t won yet is that joke of a title Carmella’s running around with.”

“So that’s what this is all about, eh?” Becky asks. “Bayley’s starved for attention and is clingin’ to relevancy. Well, I’ll give ya some free advice. A year an’ a half ago, you and I were in the Women’s Battle Royal on the WrestleMania pre-show. So we started out in the same place. But in the last year I went from the WrestleMania pre-show to the main event. And do you wanna know how? I fought for it. I fought the best, I beat the best, and I kept fightin’ until I found myself at the top of the mountain. And I’m still fightin’ in order to stay there!” Becky stands up and knocks her chair over. “You want the attention and the spotlight so bad? Then fight me and try ta take it!”

The fans cheer for the fighting Raw Women's Champion. "BECKY! BECKY! BECKY!"

Bayley slowly rises from her chair and stares down Lynch. Miz steps back and can sense the rising conflict. He knows from experience that many WWE talk show segments end in a brawl between the guests so after stirring the pot a bit he’s ready to get out of the way if the Raw Women’s Champion and Smackdown Women’s Champion start fighting each other.

But before Becky and Bayley can do anything, they’re interrupted by theme music. Alexa Bliss comes out from the back with Nikki Cross walking one step behind her. Nikki’s wearing the same pants as last night but her top is distinctly bluer in color than the other one which got covered in the green mist that Asuka spat on her. Bliss is in a low cut black wrestling top and short black trunks with red trim similar to the gear with green trim from last night.

“Hold on, just one minute,” Alexa interrupts, “Bayley, Becky, don’t beat yourselves up. We’re your opponents in the Championship Showcase. That’s our job!”

“Oh, stuff it, Bliss!” Lynch is quick to retort and shut down ‘the Goddess’. “If you pull your head outta your arse for a moment… or better yet, pull it outta Nikki’s arse, you’d realize that not everything’s about you. I’ll get to you eventually. But right now Bayley and I have some business.”

Alexa’s face takes on a pink tint as the blatant reminder of what Carmella did to them on Friday night. “Not a chance! That’s exactly why we’re out here! You think we’re a joke. Everyone thinks we’re a joke now! But we’re going to prove otherwise tonight. Bayley, since you wanted to take a trip down memory lane… let me do the same. I want you both to think back to your first title win on the main roster. Becky, for you that was the Smackdown Women’s Championship. I was there the night you won it and became the inaugural Smackdown Women’s Champion. And Bayley, you beat Charlotte Flair on Raw to become the Raw Women’s Champion and went on to defend that title at WrestleMania 33. Now I want you both to think back… and remember who took those titles from you… that’s right… IT WAS ME!”

“I am THE GODDESS of the WWE,” Bliss continues, “You want to talk about making history? Beating both of you made me the first woman to ever win both the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Championships. So no matter how many times you two and Charlotte win those titles... you will always just be following in my footsteps. And Bayley, you’re not the only Triple Crown Women’s Champion. I became the second one when Nikki and I won the Women’s Tag Team Championships back in August.” Bliss stops midway down the ramp and looks over at Nikki Cross. “And let’s talk about Nikki. She’s easily the most talented woman to come out of NXT in the last year. And while she might not have all my accomplishments, I guarantee you that she's a star in the making and that one day Nikki Cross will be a Women’s Champion. Together, Nikki and I are the reigning Women’s Tag Team Champions.” Alexa pats the plate of the Tag Team Title on her shoulder. “These titles signify that the two of us are the best team in the WWE and that means we work better together than any other two women you could pit us against. And that includes the two of you!”

“I don’t need her as a partner,” Bayley insists. “And I don't have to prove anything against you. In case you forgot, I beat both of you in a handicap match at **** Rules.”

“We were only just beginning to gel together as a team!” Alexa protests. “But since then we’ve only gotten better and that’s why we won the Women’s Tag Team Championships.”

“Oh really? You’ve gotten better?” Becky chimes in, “Then how come on Friday we all saw just one woman outsmart and humiliate the both of ya with only a pizza guy as an accomplice?”

Alexa’s face goes red again at the mention of what happened on Friday. “It’s true, Carmella did a number on us. But unlike Bayley’s partner Sasha, we’re made out of tough stuff. We didn’t run away and hide from the world like she did after you lost these titles at WrestleMania. In spite of all the teasing, the countless people asking me what Nikki’s ass tastes like, and even Asuka spitting that disgusting green mist in Nikki’s face… we walked into Hell in a Cell as the Women’s Tag Team Champions… and that’s exactly how we left! We retained our titles just like you did! The joke is over! No one will be laughing at us when we beat the two of you and prove that we’re the most dominant women’s champions in the WWE!”

“Alright, I’m startin’ to get antsy,” Becky replies as she removes her jacket and casts it aside then tosses her Raw Women’s Championship down on top of it. The Miz clears the ring when Beck grabs one of his chairs and tosses it out to the floor. “Being the Man means I never back down from a fight. If you crazy weirdos are so eager to prove yourselves against the Champ and the Chump... then I say come down here and do it!” Bayley glares over at Becky but finds Becky glaring right back. "I'll be keepin' an eye on you. Don't think that I forgot what happened the last time we fought these two together. You stabbed me in the back and hit me with a chair."

Bayley smirks as she remembers when she turned on Becky back in September in support of her best friend. She doesn't seem pleased about the Raw Women’s Champion roping her into a fight. But the match was already advertised as a Champions Showcase at the start of the show so she decides to go along with it... for now.

Nikki bursts passed Bliss and runs the rest of the way down the ramp. She jumps up onto the apron but stops short of getting into the ring and just hangs on the middle rope and stares into the ring at Becky and Bayley. “Are ye ready to play with Nikki?”

Alexa walks down the ramp behind her partner and eventually joins her on the ring apron. But before the Women’s Tag Team Champions can get into the ring - which is still decked out with the chairs and black mat from Miz TV - Raw cuts to a commercial break. But the commentary team makes a quick promise that the Championship Showcase will kick off when Raw returns.

What happens in the match?
