Laura laughed. "Yeah, he had no idea."

Kate looked at her oddly. "This is like what you doing before."

"What?"

"Where you pretended that you thought something wasn't normal. But if you can't see that it's abnormal then you wouldn't even know to suggest it, which means..."

She trailed off, staring at Laura.

"Which means..." Laura prompted.

"Means you can find things normal. But that's not normal! You- you can't see when I'm doing something normal, because that's what's normal, but you know what isn't normal, and... and..."

Laura was stunned to see a trickle of blood on Kate's upper lip.

"I can see," Kate said.
