A trip to the hospital
Mike didn’t believe me, and pushed me to the ground. When he started to hit me, Kim yelled at him, begging him to stop. It didn’t last long, some students pulled him off me, even though the damage was already done. Soon after they pulled Mike off me, I blacked out. Seems when I blacked out, Kim started frantically calling for help, begging anyone to help get someone to help me.
When I woke up, I was in the hospital. My mom and sister were there. “Hey mom, he’s awake,” said my sister. My mom hugged me, happy that I was ok. My sister filled me in on what happed after I blacked out, some things surprising me. After 20 minutes, Kim walked in. Seems Kim had gone to all my classes and asked the teachers for my homework. Kim asked, “can I talk to John, in private.” My mom and sister left, leaving Kim and I alone.
“Here’s your homework, John,” she said. “Thanks,” was my reply. I wondered why Kim had gotten my homework; my sister could have done it. “I wanted to get an answer to my question,” she said. “I really like you, John. Ever since you stopped coming on the bus, I worried that I was the cause of it, or Mike. Please just tell me why, I need to know. I’m not leaving until I know.”
“Kim,” I said, “it wasn’t you.” She was relieved to hear that. “I didn’t go on the bus because I was always worried about what Mike would do to me. Many people have told me that you like me a lot, and I knew Mike would be pissed and do exactly what he did today. I’m sorry if I’ve hurt you in anyway.”
We joked around a bit, and, since we took a few of the same courses, she helped me with some of my homework, “I’m sorry that your birthday was ruined,” she said “It’s ok,” I said, “it’s not a big thing anyway.” “Yes it is,” she screamed, “your 18 years old, you’re an adult.” My sister came in and told us that visiting hours were over. Before they left, Kim said that, once I got out of the hospital, to take to bus. She also told me, quietly, that she was my present, but that I’d have to wait to unwrap it. Boy did I ever want to unwrap that present.
