A tie and a new name

Jack looked ecstatic as the board displayed the results of the vote, with Queen Bee and Exchange students finishing first.

"Wow, we've got a tie! You're lucky, sweetie, it looks like the audience wanted to give you a nice farewell gift before you completed the 5 mandatory openings."

"That's a real surprise, Jack. It seems so statistically unlikely to get the same amount of votes on two options..."

But before we get to the changes, I have another surprise for you! After receiving some suggestions from the audience, we've settled on your new name. From now on, you'll be called Katsumi."

"Ooh, that's like, much cuter than her boring name. Huh, what was your name again?"

"My name was, and still is, Eh.. Eh... Why can't I say it? My name is... Katsumi!!!! What have you done to me? Why can't I say my name?"

"Oh but you can say it alright dear. We just made sure that you would never be able to try to get people to call you by anything but Katsumi. Not that anyone will remember you ever being named something else."

Katsumi felt her brain heat up as she tried to conjure memories of her previous name. Steadily, any remnants of it were erased, until she was left wondering what it even was. Though something felt off, she knew she was, and had always been Katsumi.

"Now that we're done with the name, let's get to the changes. We had to find a way to combine both options, so here is the result: You're now a 19 years old student at your high school. You arrived from Japan a couple of months ago, as part of an academic exchange, that you were offered due to your cheerleading skills. Before that, you've spent your life in Japan, and are still at a beginners' level in English. Do you understand?"

As Jack spoke, Katsumi could almost feel his words being engraved in her brain, becoming her new reality. New memories started to surface in her mind, of growing up in Japan, going to a Japanese school and spending most of her time at dance and gymnastics practice. At the same time, knowledge from her old life, started to fade. She still had her memory and was aware that she was an American teacher and had spent years studying literature, but it felt like all of this was behind a veil she could not lift. It's not like she even truly liked literature. Since she was a child, she had always read very little, preferring to learn how to dance and sing. Without ever realizing it, her thoughts shifted from English to Japanese, as well as all the new knowledge she had accumulated from her first transformation. One thing was missing though - English was nowhere to be found.

On the outside, Katsumi's body was undergoing more changes. Her face youthened a bit, reflecting the 6 years she had just lost, while her body started to adapt to her new lifestyle, with her thighs and core becoming more toned as the result of the hours she spent at cheerleading practice everyday.

As the crowd started laughing, Katsumi looked around with wide eyes, confused at what Jack had just said.

"Well, sweetie. You have opened your five cases. Do you want to continue, or quit?"

Jack spoke slowly, articulating every word and separating the syllables, while making gestures with his hands. While Katsumi felt grateful as she could understand what he was saying, she felt her loins heat up again under the shame of being treated like a dumb, illiterate thing. Now that she felt reduced to a helpless thing with no understanding of English, it was becoming hard for to resist the arousal that had built throughout the game, humiliation after humiliation.

"I can't go back to life like this. I continue. Case 20 please."

Chrissi opened the lid to reveal the 100,000 dollars panel. Katsumi felt a glimmer of hope inside her. With a couple of other good cases, she may be able to get set up for life or cancel a change before quitting.

"Good. I take case 2 now please."

"You heard her, Chrissi."

With a giggle, Chrissi took out a new cardboard with a picture of a watermelon.
