A threat

You don't know how to react exactly to the man's statement. Just earlier today, you had made the same pronouncement to the media, but you knew it wasn't real. You just didn't want people to know about the true root of your abilities as it might make you ****. If people knew that the rings gave you power, then you're sure people might try to steal them or worse.

"No," you shake your head. "You're not an alien. There's no such thing. You have some magical item, right?" you say nervously while activating your ring that gives your super strength. You're not sure if you'll need it, but this man certainly doesn't seem friendly.

The man looks annoyed and he turns his head to the right. Then, red lasers shoot out of his eyes and he burns a circle into the wall of your office. When he looks back at you, you flinch, wary that he might fire his lasers at you as his eyes are still red. The man smirks as the red glow fades away and his eyes return to normal.

"Is that proof enough?" he says cockily.

You take in a deep breath and nod.

"Good. So, this is what you're going to do. Tomorrow morning, you're going to announce your resignation and then you're going to disappear from the public spotlight. No more of this alien talk and no more using your abilities out in the open. We don't care how you got those magic rings and since we haven't seen you do anything evil or criminal, we're going to give you a chance. Is that clear?" the man says, still floating in the air. Even if he weren't floating, he would still tower over you.

"We?" you ask, confused by the man's identity.

He ignores your question. "Trust me, if we have to come after you, you'll be going away for a long time. There won't be a second warning."

You don't say anything for a while, taking in the man's words. You have so many questions but it seems he's not going to answer any of them. His goal here is clearly just to deliver you this message. "Who are you?" you ask anyway.

The man opens his mouth and it looks like he's going to answer, but he changes his mind and shuts his mouth. Instead, he nods at you before he turns and after a brief pause, flies out of the window he had came in through with great speed, way faster than you can fly with the ability of your magic ring. Just as suddenly as the man had appeared, he's gone.
