A strange visitor

Doctor Strange's limousine pulled up to Oceanview Resort. Wong, who was driving the limo, rolled down his window to check and see if they were at the right place.

"This looks like the place." he said.

In the back seat, Doctor Strange was dressed incognito, in a crisp black business suit with a blue tie. Spider-Man had made it explicitly clear that he didn't want Strange to be recognized - given that he was among one of the most recognizable men in the country, possibly the world, due to his affiliation with the Avengers. But he did bring along many of his tools just in case. He didn't think he'd need them, but brought them anyway.

Strange stepped out of the car, closing the door behind him. "Find somewhere to park. I'm guessing we'll be here for a while."

Wong nodded and drove off. Strange then strolled into the main lobby.

Nothing seemed out of the ordinary; from all outward appearances it was your average upscale hotel lobby. He did a quick scan of the lobby; there was no sign of Mary Jane there.

This seems like a trivial task, Strange thought to himself, but if it will set Parker's mind at ease, I'll do what I can. He wandered up to the front desk and rang the bell.

At first, nobody came out, so he rang the bell again. Then, an African-American gentleman around his age walked up to the front desk, a rather annoyed look on his face.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, sir. My usual concierge girl was...preoccupied...with another matter. My name's Jim Lee, and I'm one of the assistant managers here at Oceanview. Do you have a reservation with us?"

"I don't." Strange replied. "Could I by any chance make one on the fly? My name's Stephen Strange."

"I'm not sure - we don't have a lot of free rooms left. Let me double-check....." He pulled up a readout of rooms on his computer and read down the list. After a moment, he smiled. "You're in luck, sir. We do have a free room."

"Thank you. I'll handle payment details later." Jim reached under her desk and handed Strange his room key.

"Say....you look a bit familiar, sir. Have we met before?" Jim couldn't shake the feeling that he'd seen this man somewhere before. And his name - Stephen Strange - also sounded familiar.

"Unlikely. I'm not from around here." he replied as he took the room key. Jim shrugged the feeling off.

"Well, looks like you're all set, Mr. Strange. Anything else I can help you with?"

"There is, actually." Strange replied. "I'm looking for one of your current guests: Mary Jane Watson-Parker."

Jim laughed under his breath. "I think I know who you're talking about. Redheaded woman, mid-20s?"

"That's correct. I'm one of her husband's work colleagues and want to see how she's doing."

"I don't believe she's in her room right now. You may need to wait."

Strange nodded. "Thank you." And he headed off to his room.

Jim sighed as he watched Strange walk away. Well, this might get messy. Mandy may be like a surrogate daughter to me, and lord knows I've never had any issues with her, Megan, Jessica, and Anna's dalliances as long as they didn't directly conflict with her work, but messing around with a married woman is opening Pandora's box. I hope they all know what they're doing, or they could get in trouble.
